Location: Bay Area, California

Reports to: CEO and direct interaction with the Board of Directors and investors through both board meetings and monthly financial and business updates.

The CFO will be a “doer” capable of driving initiatives forward in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment that is laser focused on customer service, operational execution, and growth.       

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead an accounting and finance team that can:
  • Execute a closing checklist and target a ten-business-day month-end financial close
  • Prepare accurate and GAAP-compliant monthly, quarterly, and annual financials
  • Deliver the Company’s monthly reporting package shortly following the month-end close
  • Prepare monthly lender reporting package and business summary 
  • Ensure proper internal controls and cash management functions are in place and being followed by the accounting staff
  • Perform reconciliations, accruals, and other accounting duties reliably
  • Provide relevant financial analysis, recommendations, and support to other functional leaders in the business including the CEO and Board of Directors
  • Develop and own the annual budget process and recurring forecasting methodology
  • Implement key performance indicators to drive performance in the finance organization and partner with the executive team to develop a dashboard of key business metrics that help organizational leaders make decisions and improve the business
  • Prepare analytical tools to inform strategic decisions around the Company’s acquisition and new store development growth initiatives
  • Work with cross-functional teams to manage and complete projects that are important to the core business (with a specific focus on helping evaluate M&A opportunities and greenfield real estate opportunities)
  • Represent company with investment bankers, lenders and potential investors as it continues to grow

Key Performance Indicators

  • EBITDA growth and cash generation attainment versus plan and prior year
  • Successful execution of annual strategic initiatives
  • Substantial audit compliance with no significant findings
  • Timely and accurate delivery of all required financials reports

Core Demonstrated Competencies

  • Experience managing and building a finance & accounting department
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and an audit process
  • Development of dashboards and analytical tools to improve operations and decision making
  • History of developing and aiding major strategic initiatives as a member of an executive team

Additional Preferred Experience

  • Prior history working with lenders and managing debt compliance
  • Background in multi-unit business models, such as retail or consumer services
  • Analytical expertise for executing a new site / greenfield growth strategy
  • Hands on involvement in planning and execution of acquisition integration
  • Previous roles in entrepreneurial or private equity-backed companies

Other Requirements

  • 10+ years of finance and accounting experience, including at least 3 years as a manager
  • BA/BS Degree (CPA preferred)
