The Quant Quality Assurance Analyst works with other Analysts to ensure that the systems meet specified standards and requirements. This individual will help test and validate the functional and model outputs of our systems under test. The expectation of the role is the Analyst can properly evaluate positive conditions relative to the functionality, as well as look for negative data conditions or boundary conditions that the functionality may not be tuned for. The testing activities help tune the models to make them better. The Quant Quality Assurance Analyst will be a team player and work well with technical and non-technical professionals in a project environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Actively participates in requirement reviews to identify missing or incomplete requirements. Must always look for assumptions made in the models and must always validate those assumptions of the models.
  • Actively participates in design/technical reviews to identify missing, incomplete or inaccurate design assumptions or design choices.
  • Authors test design documentation using structured, model-based techniques to insure completeness and accuracy. Leads cross team review of this documentation and independently follows up on any feedback received.
  • Conducts regression, integration, and systems testing on newly designed or modified applications/systems.
  • Works with project team and QRM throughout the Lifecycle to assist and support the analysis, design, development, and effective and efficient implementation of developed systems/applications.
  • Thoroughly analyzes, tests, and documents software quality to ensure proper implementation.
  • Writes clear and precise defect reports as required for identified software defects and functional defects based on testing results.
  • Monitors and updates defect reports as needed to ensure timely problem resolution.
  • Independently follows up with design/development resources regarding defects.
  • Follows agreed upon SDLC procedures to ensure that all information system products and services meet: both explicit and implicit quality standards, end-user functional requirements, architectural standards, performance requirements, audit requirements, security rules are upheld, and external facing reporting is properly represented.
  • Performs application and project risk analysis and recommends quality improvements.
  • Assists Production Support by testing time sensitive defects and providing advice on system functionality.
  • Provides environment requirements and specifications.
  • Communicates in a clear and concise manner all time delays or defects in the software immediately to appropriate team members and management
  • Assist with departmental and new employee training

  • Extensive Quant knowledge is a must.
  • Ability to translate technical requirements to non-technical users.
  • Ability to absorb and retain working knowledge of multiple OCC department functions and external party interactions with OCC
  • Strong skills or experience in manual testing environment and experience with both front/back end testing
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, sound judgement and time management skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter with creative problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to manage and prioritize assignments and respond to shifting priorities
  • Skilled at problem escalation and resolution
  • Superb work ethic, attention to detail, team orientation, and commitment to excellence
  • Understanding of relational database models. Proficiency in SQL (DB2, SQL server; queries, data manipulation, reading data models)
  • Familiarity with XML concepts and structures
  • At least 1 to 2 years Quant experience preferably in IT financial domain.
  • Experience in developing test scope and plans, project management, SDLC methodology
  • Strong communication skills, written and oral, analytical abilities, sound judgment and time management skills, and the ability to work effectively with clients (users), management and staff.
  • Requires the ability to meet aggressive deadlines efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to work on multiple project tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
  • Desire to develop automation scripts by means of intensive functional knowledge and technical skills is a must have.

Technical Skills:
  • Use advanced computational skills with Python, Matlab, Java, SQL to provide deeper analysis of prospective asset performance/pricing, or information needed to measure risk.
  • Experience in rigorous data analysis (highly analytical)
  • Trading and derivative industry experience is a must.
  • Use advanced mathematical, analytic, or economic tools to create algorithms for analytical or product development processes.
  • Perform loss forecast analysis and model development/ analysis for high level quantitative analysis of credit risk, product valuation, and asset analysis.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Master's of Financial Engineering or related quantitative field a strong plus.

Certificates or Licenses:
  • CFA a plus.
