POSITION SUMMARY:

Review Appraiser; a position within our Appraisal team within Risk Management. Under the supervision of a more senior team member, this position is responsible for appraisal assignment engagement with third-party appraisal vendors, process management and appraisal administration, and review of appraisal reports primarily related to commercial real estate properties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Working under the direction, and/or reporting to more senior members of the Team, the role of the Senior Appraiser I is to understand the scope of a particular assignment, engage specific third-party consultants, review appraisal reports in detail, and report value conclusions to Team members and/or internal clients.

Ensure that real estate appraisal services are conducted in a regulatory compliant, cost effective, and timely manner.

Review appraisal service requests for completeness.

Contribute to maintaining and managing a panel of qualified third-party real estate appraisers.

Solicit and collect bids for appraisal services from qualified approved fee appraisers.

Engage fee appraisers to perform appraisal services as needed.

Perform USPAP Standard 3 reviews of third-party and internal appraisal reports under the direction of senior members of the Appraisal Team.

Regularly conduct independent research.

Frequent interaction with members of Asset Management, Finance, Regulators and Auditors.

Could act as a functional lead for the valuation of certain Portfolios

Assist in the development and updating of processes and procedures that incorporate the required level of controls, while delivering well supported valuations as required for specific accounts/funds.

The position may require interaction with senior management including portfolio management, accounting, asset management, third-party consultants, and internal and external auditors.

These efforts will assist Nuveen in investment decision making and/or provide accounting or other internal clients with timely reporting of asset values for real estate accounts or funds.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

-BA/BS in Finance, Real Estate or related field

-3+ Years of appraisal experience

-Certified Appraisal License, working towards an MAI designation

Preferred:

-5+ Years of appraisal experience

-MBA or CFA

-Strong knowledge of commercial real estate appraisal theory and application. -Good working knowledge of Argus software a plus.

-Understanding of the requirements of the Uniform Standards of professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and the Interagency Appraisal and Evaluation Guidelines requirements of FIRREA

-Self-directed, self-starter, and motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision

-Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks

-Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills (written and -oral)
