What is the opportunity?

The Associate Director in the Basel Governance & Oversight team is a key role in the efficient management of RBC's overall Basel compliance framework and processes. The position adds value by providing subject matter expertise on Basel and OSFI requirements in the area of regulatory capital and reporting; monitoring the scope of such applicable requirements across RBC; providing effective challenge in coordinating the self-assessment reviews and submissions; and researching expected regulatory developments for jurisdictions where RBC operates.

The Associate Director will also contribute to the effective challenge of self-assessments conducted for new model applications or modifications. This role is, therefore, critical to providing RBC with significant financial benefits through the ability to achieve regulatory approval on new models. The incumbent will also participate in a number of projects designed to enhance RBC's program supporting regulatory capital model compliance.

What will you do?
  • Manage the production of the Bank's annual Self-Assessment Process (SAP), across selected risk types and / or portfolios.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance the Basel Compliance Framework, including creating and maintaining operating guidelines, processes and other documentation.
  • Prepare or assist in preparation of presentations and other material for senior management and regulators.
  • Participate in the rapid evolution of the overall Basel Compliance framework to align with best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Effectively manage the Share Point repository to support adherence with OSFI's minimum requirements.


What do you need to succeed?

Must Have
  • 5+ years of experience in Risk Management, Policy, Compliance, Law or Bank Regulation; or Consulting on bank practices in any of these fields. Working knowledge of OSFI capital adequacy requirements.
  • Excellent writing, communication, stakeholder management and presentation skills
  • The successful candidate will be highly attentive to detail and be comfortable challenging the nature and quality of assessments provided by colleagues throughout RBC.
  • Knowledge of industry best-practices on self-assessments against regulatory capital model guidelines.
  • Post-secondary education in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Law or a related field.


Nice to Have
  • Graduate degree in a relevant field.
  • CFA, FRM or professional designations.
