Position Description:

PIMCO is aggressively building out an enhanced technology platform to improve efficiency for the Client Management professionals and their support teams. We are seeking a Business Analyst to work with business users to capture requirements to guide the efforts of the programmers. Opportunities are available in PIMCO's Austin office. This person will need to build solutions that are aligned with the broader Technology platform guidelines and goals. This person will be responsible for delivery of enhanced technology capabilities, driving requirements, functional use cases, providing functional support, and resolving issues.
The key responsibilities for this role include user interface re-designs, data retrieval optimization or enhancements to the client reporting statistics calculation engine.
RESPONSIBILITES

  • Understand the overall vision of PIMCO's technology solutions and be able to drive requirements
  • Be able to go beyond the immediate technology task and have an understanding of the business process in order to develop new ideas on how to solve problems
  • Act as liaison between business community and developers to
    • Translate requirements into specifications from which developers will build
    • Gather information directly from users on suspected system bugs or process pain points
    • Work directly with users to troubleshoot issues and subsequently collaborate with the development on the best design for a resolution
  • Effectively communicate progress and timelines to the business users even during times of changing/ evolving requirements
  • Facilitate effective small and large business user sessions (e.g. capability design, prioritization, process improvements)
  • Participate in detailed analysis meetings with other business analysts, technology support groups, developers, and technology managers to help deliver scalable and re-usable solutions
  • Be able to define and document functional use case scenarios to effectively test and establish system adherence to requirements and user needs.
  • Perform functional QA testing of enhancements prior to their release to Production environment
  • Must be able to fulfill ad hoc reporting requests or analysis on timely basis for business users and/or management by querying data base directly, using query tools, and/or validating SQL query results provided by development team
  • Provide functional support on internal and external applications and occasionally train new hires on these tools
  • Assist in the promotion and adoption of new technology solutions
  • Create online Training and Reference materials as needed
  • Help maintain and manage a queue of technology requests using our ticket tracking tool to monitor throughput and priorities through to completion


Position Requirements:

  • Five to ten overall years of technology/systems integration experience
  • Minimum of three recent years working on design and systems implementation for investment-related projects
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Strong systems implementation methodology background
  • Strong knowledge of reporting metrics for investment portfolios
  • Strong data analysis skills using PL/ SQL and Excel
  • Knowledge of quick prototype tools.
  • Is well versed with project planning methodologies, especially Agile.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent initiative: anticipate and avoid/resolve problems; proactively assess areas for improvement; recommend solutions and follow through to implement them
  • Thorough and detail oriented; take ownership for complete follow-through of work
  • Able to learn new business areas and systems quickly
  • Flexible team player who cooperates with others and adapts easily to changing priorities
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Bachelor's degree from a reputable university
  • Interest in a great systems design career with an exceptional firm


PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED
  • MBA or CFA designation
  • Some prior hands on development experience is a plus, does not need to be recent
