JOB PURPOSE: (prime focus and objective of the position)

BAM's investor base in APAC has grown exponentially over the last 5 years to now include over $25bn client capital, from over 75 investors across 10 different countries. This growth is expected to continue of the coming years.

The growth, diversity and complexity of this client base, has resulted in an increasing requirement for additional/complimentary information, data and reporting demands for these clients beyond the standard fund reporting provided by BAM.

These requirements resulted from a combination of:
  • Reporting requirements directly to regulators in various jurisdictions
  • Specific data required by investors to meet regulatory, tax or capital charge requirements
  • Internal investor data required by an investors credit, risk or audit teams
  • Internal investor data required in a format to support investor's consolidated reporting requirement
  • Other ad-hoc requirements

In addition to the above, as a result of an increased in volume of the investment management and corporate operations in the APAC jurisdiction (Singapore, China, Korea, Japan and Hong Kong), the Senior Accountant would be supporting also the regular finance function of the corporate office and investment holding companies in Singapore and Hong Kong.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

The APAC Finance team has taken on responsibility for the overall responsibility for the above investor reporting
and is expected to complete the following:
  • Implement a framework to manage, control and monitor the above non-standard investor requests
  • Coordinating various stakeholders across platforms, divisions and geographically to source the relevant information and complete the required reporting
  • Managing any internal review and sign-off
  • Working with the relevant client relationship manager to communicate the information to the investors

In addition to the investor reporting, the Senior Accountant would be supporting the APAC finance function which
includes:
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, yearly management account for investment holding company
  • Work closely with the external service providers on day-to-day corporate administration matters, review of corporate entities management accounts
  • Manage and/or support the internal management reporting, annual statutory audit, annual budgeting,business plan, board papers and cash flow forecasting
  • Managing the bank account opening and have a preparer role for payment and banking transactions
  • Preparation/review of compliance reporting (CMS / SFC License)
  • To handle any other jobs, tasks, assignments or ad hoc projects as assigned from time to time

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Degree in accounting/ finance.
  • Post graduate studies in finance such as CFA, MBA or CA/CPA/ACCA qualified would be preferred
  • English and Mandarin speaking/reading would be highly regarded

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • 4 - 6 years experience in financial services or fund related industries
  • Experience in investor reporting and fund administration
  • Hands on experience in preparation of management accounts
  • Experience in private funds and knowledge of the investment management industry, experience in real estate, private equity, infrastructure and/or renewable energy would be an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to build relationships and work with professionals around the organization
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to deal effectively at all levels and departments within the organization
  • Team player with positive attitude and pro-active approach to work
  • Strategic thinker with ability to think outside the box, to improve upon existing processes or the implementation of new processes
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work with tight deadlines, ad-hoc requests and changing priorities
