Senior Associate, Private Funds Group, Product Development

Brookfield Asset Management is seeking a Senior Associate to join the Product Development Team within the Private Funds Group. The Senior Associate will be part of the team responsible for the product design and launch of private funds / private markets strategies. The position will be in New York.

The Private Funds Group ("PFG"), is responsible for the fundraising of third-party capital for Brookfield's global private funds. PFG is currently a 110+ person global team, growing rapidly and seeks to add an experience professional to the Product Development Team. The role offers a dynamic environment with significant career growth and advancement.

About the Product Development Team

The Product Development Team is responsible for managing all aspects of product design and product launch. The team leads the development of new products by working with a cross functional team (comprising investment management, marketing, legal, tax, compliance, finance and operations professionals) to design the key elements of a private fund (strategy, terms, fees, demand, structuring, fundraising approach, etc.). Working on the Product Development Team offers the unique opportunity to work closely with many individuals across PFG and each of Brookfield's major business lines-real estate, infrastructure, renewable power and private equity.

The Product Development Team is also responsible for the implementation and timely execution of product launches by mobilizing the relevant teams throughout the organization needed to bring a private fund to market. Team members have product planning and project management experience and possess the ability to manage the process of turning a concept into a final product. The team also monitors and communicates the product pipeline and active projects in development to senior management and across the firm.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with cross functional teams of various key stakeholders in the design and development of new products, helping to drive key decisions and address potential gating issues
  • Liaise and work alongside a cross functional teams to develop launch plans for each functional group
  • Monitor the implementation of the private fund launch plans created by each functional area; track and communicate the progress of the implementation to senior management

Key Attributes / Requirements:
  • Minimum of [6+] years of financial services-related experience
  • Undergraduate degree with an excellent academic background; additional credentials including MBA, CPA or CFA would be an asset
  • Experience in private funds and knowledge of the investment management industry required, experience in real estate, infrastructure, private equity would be an asset
  • Experience in leading and managing multiple projects with cross functional teams of various disciplines
  • Strong quantitative skills, including proficiency in Excel, modeling
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work with tight deadlines, and ad-hoc requests as required
  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to deal effectively at all levels and departments within the organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to build relationships and work with professionals around the organization
  • Team player with positive attitude and pro-active approach to work
