Description of the Business Line or Department
Team of generalist Investment Advisors, who could also have an additional product or asset class speciality and expertise.
Investment Advisors are part of the Advisory department (ADV), which is part of Client Solutions Group (CSG), and related to the Societe Generale Private Banking (SGPB) business line.
Summary of the key purposes of the role
  • Interactions with Clients, including Key Clients
    • Provide investment advice
  • Interactions with Prospects, Clients and Private Bankers
    • Provide overview of investment offering
  • Act as a specialist on a specific asset class or instrument type (optional)
  • Contribute to developing the junior staff members
Summary of responsibilities
  • Implements the local ADV strategy and roadmap
  • Keep himself/herself informed and aware of the SGPB/KH investment strategy, key themes, and also of any potential evolution/change within the SGPB/KH investment offering
  • In line with the client risk profile and suitability assessment, the SGPB/KH investment strategy and investment universe, and the group and local policies and regulations:
    • Act as a dedicated investment advisor for Advisory portfolios
    • Provide investment advice in relation to portfolio allocation and investment products (e.g. mutual funds, structured products, equities, bonds, etc.)
    • Provide investment information (portfolio reviews, performance updates, products information, etc.)
  • Convey SGPB/KH Investment Strategy and SGPB/KH Global Investment Committee views, and:
    • Promote, suitably and consistently with all policies (Suitability, TCF, etc.), the full range of investment products and services available in the SGPB/KH investment offering
    • Support Private Bankers in their marketing and client acquisition activity
  • Build strong relationships with Clients, Private bankers, and other business partners in general
  • Coordinate the delivery of specific investment products or services (optional and depending on expertise)
  • Train Private Bankers on investment products and services, through any or several of the below (optional and depending on expertise):
    • Private Banking Academy trainings
    • Private bankers induction
    • Private bankers team training on specific investment topics as proposed by the Investment Advisor or the Private banker Team leader
  • Transmit clients and Private bankers feedbacks to the other CSG teams in order to adapt and develop further the SGPB/KH investment products and services offering
  • Support the Head of Investment Advisory for specific Advisory projects
  • Support, develop and share their knowledge with junior team members
  • Fully respect SG Policies and Procedures defined locally, at PRIV and at Group Level, in order to control operational risks
  • Respect of local SGPB/KH procedures and relevant regulations
  • Application of IMMUNE and FORCE rules
  • Must seek advice from management in case of doubt
  • The employee must know and comply with the regulations, rules and procedures, internal and external applicable in the context of its function and follow the compulsory training (to include in all JD's)
  • Perform all duties in accordance with the principles outlined in the SG Code of Conduct, as well as the policies and procedures relevant to your responsibilities, to ensure that you adhere to a culture that treats clients fairly and focuses on the long term sustainability of client relationships (to include in all JD's)


Delegated responsibilities
  • Provide investment advice
  • Coordinate the delivery of specific investment products or services (optional)
  • Lead specific Advisory projects either at a local or transversal level (optional)
  • Controls implemented:
    • Monthly set of MI and monthly report
    • Daily team huddles (4 times a week) of 5 to 20 minutes
    • Weekly team meeting of 1h15
    • Monthly 1:1 meetings of 30 minutes with line manager
    • Regular 1:1 meetings with Group Head of Advisory
    • Ad-hoc 1:1 meetings at the request of either the Senior Investment Advisor or the line manager or the Head of Investment Advisory.
Level of autonomy and authority
  • Decisions with regards to advising and transacting investment products
  • Decisions with regards to investment products and services promotion, advice and trainings


Profile Required

Competencies
Required:

  • Good judgement skills to adequately raise an alert and/or exercise whistle blowing, in regards to operational risks exposure among other things
Work Experience
  • Strong experience / expertise in the financial industry
  • In-depth knowledge of all main investment products and services
  • In-depth knowledge of asset allocation
  • Strong expertise in a specific investment product of service
Education
Mandatory:
  • Level 4 RDR compliant qualification such as the CISI Investment Advice Diploma (IAD) or CFA
Desirable:
  • Level 6 qualification such as the CISI Full Diploma
  • Undergraduate or post-graduate degree
  • Additional relevant professional qualification e.g. CFA
