BUSINESS ANALYST

Summary: Reporting to the Vice President, Strategy and Development, the Business Analyst will conduct ongoing research and analysis of target markets and opportunities to support the product and service offerings of Horizon North. Responsibilities include assistance in the preparation of ad hoc reports, business plans and presentations. The successful candidate must be a curious and critical thinker with sound judgement and solid business acumen. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

This role performs some or all of the following duties:

  • Conduct market research and analysis specific to the target markets for Horizon North’s products and services.
  • Assess operational issues in regard to competitiveness, staying current in terms of trends and innovations.
  • Prepare and deliver reports on the status of initiatives and programs to senior management.
  • Assist in the creation of financial models, economic analysis and business plan models.
  • Support the implementation of processes and tools with respect to corporate governance.
  • Provide analysis, synthesis, document preparation, reporting, and other work as directed in the development of new business cases for various business expansion and cost saving initiatives.
  • Support the due diligence process around potential acquisitions as they arise.
  • Assists in development of monthly forecast, annual budget process, and strategic plans.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of presentations for corporate intelligence and investor relations.
  • Ad hoc research analysis on potential end markets, industries and customers.
  • Other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Post-Secondary degree, diploma or certificate with a Business focus.  
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint to manage, track and report analytical results.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce would be considered an asset.

  • Office environment with a flexible work schedule, potentially requiring additional working hours as needed, to ensure business needs are continually met. 
  • Trained, as necessary, in required safety protocols.
  • Limited travel
