Tactical Opportunities Valuations - Assistant Vice President ("AVP")

Job Description:
Blackstone's Tactical Opportunities ("Tac Opps") group is looking for an AVP for its Valuations team. The core focus of the group is to prepare, evaluate, analyze, and summarize portfolio investment valuation results for Tac Opps.

• Assist in day-to-day management of the team including, but not limited to, deliverable tracking, presentations reviews, valuation model reviews, and completion of ad-hoc deliverables.

• Lead the completion of valuation models in line with Blackstone's valuation policy as well as requisite external guidance
• Drive the onboarding process for new portfolio investments and ensure proper data collection procedures are in place
• Manage the annual audit as well as interim reviews with third party valuation firms
• Drive enhancements and improvements to the group's valuations and reporting processes, procedures, and use of technology
• Manage the creation and development of presentation materials to effectively communicate results within Tac Opps and wider Blackstone
• Assist in the presentation of valuation results to various internal committees, external auditors, and limited partners
• Work closely with Tac Opps FP&A to provide inputs as well as other portfolio investment information to aid in the completion of business forecasts and other planning deliverables
• Maintain relationships with core constituencies including, Asset Management, deal professionals, Investor Relations, and Finance teams
• This is designed to be a player/coach role with trajectory toward greater managerial responsibilities based on performance

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or similar discipline (CFA and/or CPA a plus)
• 6-8 years of private valuation experience in "Big 4" transaction services, a private equity fund, hedge fund or third party valuation services provider
• 1+ years of experience managing a team of at least 3 individuals
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and challenging environment that requires execution of recurring deliverables as well as projects and initiatives in support of a rapidly growing business
• Thorough understanding of ASC 820 and corresponding valuation guidance. Familiarity with a wide range of valuation approaches (e.g. Income, Market, OPM, Contingent Claims, PWERM etc.)
• Strong interpersonal skills, high EQ, and the ability to confidently and competently handle interactions with deal professionals, Asset Management, and portfolio company representatives
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Confidence presenting to large groups of senior individuals (e.g. Firmwide Valuation Committee, Board of Directors)
• Proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint is required
• Proficiency in iLevel a plus
