What is the opportunity?
As an Associate Transaction Manager on the Portfolio Management team for RBC's Asset Based Lending ("ABL") business, (within the Global Credit division of RBC Capital Markets), you will be responsible for monitoring a diversified ABL portfolio of approximately 30+ credit relationships within the Global Credit division of RBC Capital Markets. The Associate Transaction Manager will support other areas of RBC Capital Markets and the Bank as they look to deliver a full range of credit and banking services to multinational and other large corporate and senior commercial relationships globally.

What will you do?

For the assigned ABL portfolio the incumbent will have responsibility for:
  • Monitoring credit risk facilities, (both syndicated and bilateral loans). Specific tasks will include performing annual reviews, loan documentation review and other credit correspondence, as well as assist in the preparation of credit renewals and amendments.
  • Other key duties will include (i) ensuring compliance with loan agreements and other documents through regular financial analysis, financial covenant verification and collateral margining, (ii) ensuring compliance with bank policies, (iii) early identification and assessment of deteriorating risk situations through the analysis of financial reporting, industry, economic and other data, and where necessary, to propose a course of action to ABL Portfolio management and executive which will ensure the safety of the bank's funds.
  • Responsibilities also include ensuring that bank systems correctly reflect the terms and conditions of the loans and other credit and transactional facilities in the assigned ABL portfolio. The incumbent will interact extensively with other areas of RBC Capital Markets and the Bank, and will occasionally interact with customers, solicitors and other external contacts. Primary internal relationships will be (i) within Global Credit division, primarily executive, Corporate Banking, Global Financial Institutions and Portfolio Management, (ii) National Client Group, (iii) Global Markets division, (iv) Global Transaction Services (Corporate Accounts) and (v) Group Risk Management.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have
  • MBA, professional designation (e.g., CA, CMA, CFA) or a post-graduate degree with a focus in business, accounting, economics, mathematics or other quantitative field.
  • Ability to read and understand complex legal documents.
  • Strong credit, analytical and technical skills, ability to critically assess financial statements and other corporate and commercial client reports and draw reasoned and relevant conclusions to recommend a course of action.
  • Self-starter that is able to work independently and effectively prioritize various transactions and demands from partners internally and externally
  • Commitment to task and an attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize, perform well under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines.
  • Strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills

Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with RBC credit processes and loan documentation
  • 2+ years previous banking experience with structuring/writing credit proposals, credit processes, policies, or risk analysis would be a significant asset
  • French reading/writing/communication skills.
