What is the opportunity?

You will support RBC's focus on Public Private Partnerships (P3) and Project Finance transactions reporting to the Director, National Client Group, Infrastructure Finance in Toronto. Initiative and responsibility are key to success along with credit analysis, financial modelling, credit transaction structuring, writing skills, documentation, and presentation abilities. Flexibility and enthusiasm is highly beneficial for supporting and running with other initiatives and projects. The Infrastructure Finance team has a national mandate in Canada.

What will you do?
  • Become part of a growing national team of Project Finance underwriters committed to the delivery of quality credit solutions to project sponsors and consortiums.
  • Support the team to structure, deliver, document, close, and monitor syndicated and bi-lateral senior debt transactions under the direction of the Managing Director(MD)/Director Infrastructure Finance, including due diligence, credit submissions and transaction presentations
  • Under direction of MD/Director, follow up and engage with RBC partners and functions including Group Risk Management, Capital Markets, Investment Banking and others
  • Provide research, analysis, and data (market, industry, clients) to support National Client Group (NCG) guidance and advice on the optimal loan structure required to meet objectives with each client relationship. Provide analysis and support to MD/Director NCG Infrastructure Finance on risk and return associated with loan transactions contemplated as part of client strategies.
  • Full engagement and support to MD/Director Infrastructure Finance to support NCG Infrastructure Finance mandate to develop and maintain a business pipeline, win new business and to close loan transactions sufficient in number to meet revenue plans.
  • Under direction of MD/Director, follow up and engage with partners in Loan Syndications, Corporate Banking, Debt Capital Markets and other areas.
  • Provide analysis and support to MD/Director Infrastructure Finance in connection with responsibilities to manage and monitor the Infrastructure Finance loan portfolio, including timely reporting of material shifts in risk, client needs, market pricing, and structure and support for recommendations for action and new marketing opportunities where appropriate.
  • Full engagement and support on Infrastructure Finance credit submissions and associated analysis with emphasis on completion in a timely and professional manner.
  • Full engagement and support on quality pitch books and presentations with emphasis on completion in a timely and professional manner
  • Full engagement and support on transaction administration and client services with RBC partners and functions including CTM, GLA, Agency Services and others

    What do you need to succeed?
    Must have:
  • Undergraduate degree with a focus in Business, Economics, Mathematics or other quantitative fields
  • CPA, CA, CFA or other relevant professional designation - ongoing or completed
  • Work experience in PPP, project finance lending, corporate lending/finance, real estate and construction lending and/or risk management
  • Strong ability to model financial sensitivity and scenario worksheets
  • Strong PowerPoint and presentation abilities
  • Strong financial, credit and accounting skills
  • Strong analytical, technical, written and communication skills
  • Strong legal documentation skills
  • Knowledge of credit products and the application thereof
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks while meeting time sensitive deadlines
  • Strong personal and relationship skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment under time constraints

    Nice to have:
  • Graduate degree with a focus in Business, Economics, Mathematics or other quantitative fields
  • Understanding and familiarity with RBC internal processes
  • Credit trained and ability to manage complex concepts
  • Strong computer literacy with emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel
  • Effective bilingual skills
