ROLE AND RESPONSABILITIES

  • To manage the Collateral Management Operations team based in Lisbon (approx. 45 individuals)
  • The Collateral Management Group processes the Net Present Value of the portfolio of trades between BNP Paribas and its counterparties on a daily basis and ensures that this exposure is sufficiently collateralised. Volumes processed by the Collateral Management Group have increased significantly over the years; this trend is expected to continue in with increasing pressure from regulators to mitigate credit risk
  • The group interacts closely with Traders, Marketers, Legal, Credit and Operations. The collateralised portfolios consist of practically all products traded within BNPP Capital Markets, including OTC Fixed Income (Swaps, Repos, FX, Credit Derivatives, FRA’s, CAPs, Swaptions and Exotics,..) and Equity Derivatives. The Group also supports the collateralisation ofReposandSecurity Lending activity
  • The Collateral Management Operations EMEA operates from three locations Mumbai, Lisbon and London. All locations work in extended mode with functional reporting lines into London
  • Daily production
  • Local responsibility to ensure the department is operating in line with global policies and practices and in line with the extended team mode for EMEA
  • Produce monthly KPI and KRI – take ownership of any action plans from such reporting
  • Identify areas of improvement for the quality of collateral management services
  • Implement action plans as agreed with the functional managers in London
  • Operations Risk
  • Contribute to the operations framework (execution and reporting of controls)
  • Implement secondary levels of controls
  • Maintain the department’s Business Continuity Plan
  • Implement audit remediation actions resulting from Audit missions
  • Team Management
  • Assist the Global Head for the management of the budget
  • Organise the recruitment , perform salary reviews and handle HR matters
  • Set-up and follow up personal development plans for the team members
  • Ensure that all functions have the appropriate cover through department X-training
  • Perform annual reviews of staff members; consult functional managers for feedback
  • Make compensation proposals in line with guidelines provided by local Management
  • Escalation / communications
  • Act as point of escalation to the European Head on production issues relating to margin call activity
  • Establish effective communication channels with major stakeholders, including Front Office, Risks and Legal
  • Build good relationships with Collateral Management Operations in London, Mumbai and New York
  • Reporting to local Operations Management
  • Functional reporting to the Head of Collateral Management Operations EMEA 
  • PROFILE
    • Education: Economics, Management, Accounting or similar (as preferred options)
    • Experience
    • Experience of Investment Banking Operations
    • Management experience of a mid-sized operations team (min 5 years)
    • Experience gained in a project environment is an advantage
  • Strong risk awareness and good judgement for escalation purposes
  • Leadership – Ability to motivate by instigating a culture of leadership by example
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to deal with extremely diverse levels of seniority
  • Ability to build effective relationships with collateral management stakeholders
