The candidate will be a member of Scotiabank's Electronic Execution Services, working as a part of the Sales team. The role is primarily that of a quantitative analyst in a client facing capacity. The ideal candidate has a strong background in mathematics or engineering with strong interpersonal skills to service the bank's institutional client base in Canada.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and expand the bank's Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA) platform
  • Assist in tailored quantitative execution analysis for institutional clients
  • Present data driven trading recommendations to clients
  • Create and maintain performance driven marketing material for the sales team
  • Implement quantitative forecasts essential to our algorithmic suite
  • Work with our vendor partners to maintain periodic and on-demand client reporting
  • Provide performance enhancing recommendations to the development team

General Characteristics:
  • An educational background in mathematics, engineering or computer science preferred
  • Strong background in statistics and probability. Forecasting or modelling experience could be an asset
  • Ability to identify and understand client requirements and work with internal groups and external vendors to propose and deliver effective client solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to manage clients, build relationships and resolve difficult situations
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of capital market preferred, especially in algorithmic trading or transaction cost analysis

Desired Knowledge and Experience:
  • Minimum of bachelor degree in mathematics, engineer, computer science or sciences
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in an analytical capacity - data analytics experience preferred
  • Strong aptitude in scripting language such as R, Matlab or Python preferred
  • Canadian licensing and registration would be an asset (Canadian Securities Course, CFA)
