Corporate Development Analyst Position

The Role: Valens is seeking a Corporate Development Analyst position to report to the Executive Vice President of Strategy & Investments to play an active role in the analysis of merger and acquisition opportunities, capital allocation decisions and developing corporate strategy. Valens is seeking applicants that have a strong interest and good understanding of the cannabis industry, proactive mentality that can meet deadlines with minimal supervision, strength in financial analysis, personability and strong communication skills to converse with internal and external contacts, strong organizational skills and high proficiency in various analytical tools such as CRM software, excel and more.

The Accountabilities:

  • Support in evaluating strategic transactions (M&A), including but not limited to business modeling, preparing presentation materials and conducting due diligence
  • Assist in formulating the Company's corporate strategy
  • Contribute to the preparation of analysis and evaluate various project opportunities from a financial and strategic perspective for senior management and the board of directors
  • Research and analyze the industry
  • Support with the business plan and managing process and execution of raising capital and working with internal partners to provide advice and input around the corporate plan
  • Develop financial tools to evaluate the company's operational performance in strategic areas
  • Develop and monitor performance/outcome metrics and conducts analysis of existing programs and services

The Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting, Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or HBA
  • Experience as an Investment Analyst is considered an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint are required. MS Excel proficiency to include running business models to help influence decision making (break-even analysis, market sizing, basic product P&L, pivots, etc.)
