Job Details

The SBA is currently seeking a Quantitative Analyst responsible for assisting in the management of the alternative investments program in the Strategic Investments asset class.  This includes performance analytics work, performance reporting, manager monitoring and investment and administrative support.

Other duties include but are not limited to:

  • Producing performance and analytics reports for the Strategic Investments portfolio and funds
  • Supporting the Strategic Investments asset class
  • Managing fund relationships, monitoring funds and conducting fund due diligence
  • Conducting asset class and market research and modeling
  • Developing professional knowledge of topics relevant to the Strategic Investment asset class

What you should have

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in finance, economics, computer science, management information systems (MIS), statistics, accounting, mathematics, business or related field, and one year of related experience.  Or any combination of education and/or experience equal to the minimum requirements

Preferences

  • Master of Business Administration or master’s degree in a related field and an understanding of investment concepts
  • Enrollment in or completion of Chartered Financial Analyst and/or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst credentials
  • Experience in a pension fund, foundation, endowment, family office, fund of fund, or sovereign wealth fund
  • Experience conducting due diligence and monitoring alternative investment funds

  • Knowledge of financial concepts and theories
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to conduct research, compile data, write reports and present results

  • Intellectual curiosity of markets and investments
  • Travels occasionally to various locations throughout the United States and/or internationally.  Involves work outside normal business hours and working remotely to maintain contact with others and normal office-related duties

The State Board of Administration of Florida (SBA) provides a variety of investment and trust services to various Florida governmental entities. A key responsibility is to manage the assets of the Florida Retirement System Pension Plan (FRS), which is one of the largest public pension plans in the United States. The SBA’s primary focus is on investment management as it does not administer pension plan benefits. The SBA is also responsible for administering the FRS Investment Plan (a defined contribution plan), the Lawton Chiles Endowment Fund, the Local Government Surplus Funds Trust Fund (currently known as Florida PRIME), the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund and a variety of smaller funds.
