What is the opportunity?
Your primary objective as the Multi-Asset Portfolio Analyst role is to aid in the development, management, and promotion of RBC Portfolio Blueprint (RBC PB). RBC PB is RBC Wealth Management's (RBC WM) multi-asset portfolio framework for coordinated investment advice and solutions. This role will participate and contribute to the U.S. Investment Committee (USIC) as well as work in conjunction with equity, fixed income, and other analysts and strategists in developing, managing, and promoting RBC PB, including the management of discretionary portfolios. You will actively engage with financial advisors through both written and verbal communication to ensure the highest level of competency and confidence utilizing RBC PB.

What will you do?
  • Provide frequent written and verbal communication to financial advisors and other interested parties on all aspects of RBC PB, but particularly with respect to active asset allocation and portfolio positioning decisions. Communications may include audio and video calls, in-person branch and client events, and internal meetings.
  • Provide written thought leadership (Angles on Investing) on all aspects of RBC PB as well as best practices and insights into portfolio construction and portfolio management.
  • Collaborate with USIC and other committee members to develop, enhance, and execute on a disciplined risk-aware investment philosophy.
  • Actively participate in building a culture of investment discipline that encourages the sharing of investment ideas that are solidly backed by a data-driven investment decision-making process.
  • Partner with investment committee members to create data-driven models that aid in the identification of investment opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain procedures for the documentation and evaluation of investment decisions.
  • Collaborate with the Multi-Asset Portfolio Strategist in the development and management of investment mandates for multi-asset discretionary portfolios.
  • Gather, organizes, and analyze data as part of developing/monitoring/evaluating an investment decision.

What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
  • Bachelors degree or higher preferably in Finance or Economics.
  • 7+ years financial industry experience preferably in portfolio management, research, or risk management.
  • Series 7 & 66 licensed or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
  • CFA® charterholder or in the process of obtaining.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both written and verbal along with experience providing verbal and written communications on investment related topics.
  • Strong understanding of the dynamics and intricacies of the global capital markets, and the ability to assess risk and opportunities.

Nice-to-have
  • 3+ years portfolio management, research, or risk management experience.
  • Experience in investment performance and risk analysis, particularly as it relates to multi-asset portfolios.
  • Due diligence experience analyzing asset managers and different investment types such as ETFs, mutual funds, and separately managed accounts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under deadline and also ability to balance and adjust quickly to market conditions. Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with investment analysis-related software (e.g., FactSet, Bloomberg, and Morningstar Direct), and intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including VBA.
