The Interest Rate Risk (IRR) Manager leverages their specialized depth of expertise to analyze financial model output, communicate critical information to management and other stakeholders, and assist in in the formulation and development of actions to mitigate interest rate risk.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Develop and document the monthly production process for the combined ALM/FTP model including any supporting assumption input templates or processes. Ensure model data integrity by proactively engaging with IT business partners. Identify modeling issues and utilize expert judgement to continuously improve model accuracy while driving efficiency in the monthly production process.

Support FTP loan and deposit behavioral model and methodology development and documentation. Work with colleagues across the organization to develop, analyze, and operationalize cash flow data feeds from the ALM model to support Current Expected Credit Loss (CECL), forecasting, client and business unit profitability, and liquidity reporting. Analyze model results and supply reliable information to Regulatory and SEC reporting teams. Work with internal audit and model risk management to provide model updates and close model findings. Work with third-party validators to complete model certifications.

Oversee model version control, and take the lead on rolling out new versions of the model software. Using expert judgement, create and analyze additional ad hoc scenarios including relevant input assumptions such as rates, spreads, and volumes in the ALM model as needed.

Leverage specialized depth of expertise in the area of interest rate risk management and broader expertise in other areas to develop relevant analytics and reporting to inform management via an exchange of facts, statuses, ideas, and issues in order to provide a clear view of the nature of interest rate risk inherent in the balance sheet.

Apply practical knowledge of how other disciplines such as accounting, economics, and statistics combine to impact the business in order to provide advice and assistance in the development of interest rate risk mitigation actions.

Demonstration of a commanding knowledge of finance, including balance sheets, income statements, and banking products is needed.

Based on specialized knowledge and experience, provide Treasurer and ALM Manager with advice and assistance in formulating and developing actions to mitigate interest rate risk for the organization.

Utilize Microsoft SQL Server, Tableau, or other reporting tools to assist in the development of meaningful, relevant reporting and analytics for IRR and FTP to be consumed by the Asset Liability Committee (ALCO).
SKILLS:

Exercise critical thinking, analytical, and collaboration skills to take the lead in producing and analyzing monthly IRR and FTP results using the ALM model. Take action and make decisions based on model output that may create or extend precedent, impact project success, and enhance the ability of the organization to meet its goals. Participate in, and where necessary, lead multiple working groups across organizations to accomplish objectives.

Spearhead the operational aspects of running annual capital planning scenarios in the ALM model (i.e., scenario construction, yield curve development, assumption inputs, etc.), including any additional dry runs or scenarios as needed. Provide analysis and expert judgement on capital planning scenario results.

Receive general direction, while functioning relatively independently and be able to determine and develop own approach to work. Must have the ability to organize resources, prioritize responsibilities, and manage time constraints with minimal supervision.

Lead certain projects or segments of larger projects as needed.

Serve as a resource for other team members.

Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance
  • 5-10 years of direct experience in ALM or related Treasury/Finance function.
  • Experience using ALM software (e.g., QRM, BancWare, Empyrean, etc.)
  • MBA preferred
  • Experience communicating with C-level executives preferred
  • CFA preferred
