Senior Investment Analyst

As our Senior Investment Analyst, you’ll work at Progressive Capital Management (PCM), the investment subsidiary of The Progressive Corporation. PCM consists of a small group of investment professionals located in Norwalk, CT managing Progressive’s fixed income portfolio, currently in excess of $30 billion. The investment portfolio is managed on a total return basis. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the formulation and execution of Progressive’s investment strategy. You will conduct research analysis, with responsibility for executing purchases and sales. You will work closely with Portfolio Managers on security research and valuation, while maintaining relationships with dealers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Independently conducts fixed income research; analysis may focus on individual securities, sectors or the development of quantitative system analytics
    • Projects include analyses of individual securities, classes of securities and quantitative portfolio risk assessment
    • Classes of securities include, but are not limited to, corporate, agency, mortgage, CMBS, ABS, Municipal, preferred stock, and government bonds
  • Makes buy/sell recommendations
  • Develops and maintains sector and security information, including credit rating, duration and convexity
  • Assists Portfolio Managers in handling fixed-income investment activities for a group of clients or a fund
  • Executes fixed-income securities purchases and sales as authorized by Portfolio Mangers
  • Develops and maintains relationships with securities dealers
  • Provides Portfolio Managers with ongoing information about market sentiment and trading environment

Must have qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant work experience (e.g., investment banking/firm, capital market); MBA and at least 1 year of related work experience strongly preferred 

What we also look for

  • Knowledge of fixed income markets, bond math, yield curve dynamics, accounting, corporate credit analysis, structured bond fundamentals, option pricing and theory, macro economics and market regulations
  • Demonstrated interest in corporate finance, accounting and fundamental investment analysis
  • Knowledge of current events and major macro-economic developments
  • Exposure to fixed income markets, bond math, yield curve dynamics and/or corporate credit analysis is helpful but not required
  • Capability to work independently and show initiative
  • Strong quantitative and PC skills 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated team player
