Job Description
Accountability Statement:

The Senior Director, Institutional Sales Korea, is responsible for institutional sales for Korea. The candidate is required to have existing relationships, have a strong ability to expand their network and will be responsible for building and maintaining a strong and mutually beneficial business relationship with institutional investors. In addition, the candidate will be required to cover and maintain relationships with relevant consultants for Korea.

Furthermore, an on-going understanding of the industry and its participants is required. The candidate will be responsible to understand the needs of each institutional investor in order to approach clients and potential clients with products that can cater to their investment needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with institutional investors in the Korea, to enhance working relationships and ensure the client's needs are met.
  • Identify the needs of institutional investors and relay any sales opportunities to the Head of Institutional Business, North Asia.
  • Work to broaden relationships with institutional investors in Korea.
  • Maintain relationships and cover the relevant consultants for Korea.
  • Work closely with the client servicing team on client related matters and assist in any ad-hoc projects as required.
  • Serve as the primary day to day contact for all relationship activities, including daily ad hoc enquiries and in-depth search of information regarding portfolios and operational related requests.
  • Responding to any enquiries by clients and ensuring the quality and accuracy of both regular and ad hoc reports to be delivered to clients.
  • Liaise and establish strong relationship with other Manulife offices and internal teams (Affiliated Relationship Management, PM&A, Operations, Legal & Compliance, Portfolio Management) for the on-boarding process of clients and ensure client reporting needs are met.
  • Provide proactive support and communication to clients with respect to firm, fund performance, attributes and developments.
  • Arrange and coordinate client portfolio meetings to review assigned portfolios, investment guidelines, fund objectives and investment process.
  • Ensure client documentation is updated accordingly and internal monitoring is feasible.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:
  • At least 10 years of overall experience in areas of relationship management/sales/business development.
  • Fluent in Korean and English, both oral and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build the trust and confidence of clients, ability to strengthen client relationships through ongoing dialog and interactions, ability to work well with others to accomplish client objectives.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, primarily in one-to-one client service communication.
  • Strong knowledge of financial products, investment management principles, asset allocation, risk assessment and portfolio management techniques.
  • Experience in working with all levels of employees within a complex global organization and develop effective working relationships.
  • Well-developed prioritization and time management skills; high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated history of being results-oriented, able to work under pressure, balancing and managing multiple priorities.
  • University degree with CFA designation is an asset.
