Global Asset Management

Global Asset Management, the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC's worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. Global Asset Management fulfils its purpose of connecting HSBC's clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight.

We are now inviting qualified individuals to join this team in the role of Chief Investment Officer (CIO).


Principal Responsibilities:

Reporting to the CEO, and a s a member of the senior management committee, the CIO will be responsible for the overall management, operations and functions of the investment department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and formulate equity and fixed income strategies; conventional and Shariah-compliant, domestic and international equities
  • Provide decisions regarding portfolio investments
  • Ensure consistency in implementation and adherence to policy, guidelines and restrictions across all portfolios
  • Ensuring fund managers perform consistently whilst maintaining excellent client relationship
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure smooth running of investment operations
  • Assist in product development, positioning of funds for marketing and client servicing
  • Attend regular meetings with the investment committee on funds' performance and outlook

Key Requirements:

To succeed in the role, you will need to have at least 10 years' experience in the asset management industry or in investment management.
  • Holder of Capital Markets Services Representative's Licence (CMSRL)
  • Bachelor's Degree or Postgraduate. MBA or CFA would be an advantage
  • Between 10-12 years of relevant experience in asset management
  • Good mixture of experience in managing both fixed income and equity portfolios
  • Familiar with Securities Commission and Bursa Malaysia guidelines
  • Strong track record in leading a large team and people development skills
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
