What is the opportunity?
Do you have strong financial, credit and accounting skills? Are you an effective communicator? Do you have knowledge of Capital Markets products?

As an Associate, you will bring your strong analytical and technical skills to the table to become a valuable member of the Corporate Banking team in Montreal. You will be responsible for preparing credit submissions and associated analyses, ensuring that they are completed in a timely manner, that loan documentation standards are adhered to and that submissions are accurate while providing all relevant information to the credit decision they imply.
What will you do?
  • Assist in the structuring, delivery (pitch through to deal close) and monitoring of syndicated and bi-lateral loan transactions
  • As directed by the MD or Director or VP, assist in the preparation and presentation of marketing pitches to existing and potential clients
  • Preparation of credit submissions and other documentation related to the transaction approval process (including assistance related to loan syndications, pipeline management, single name strategies and exceptions committee papers)
  • Assist with internal credit administration, including monitoring of the team's loan portfolio performance and market/industry conditions as they affect this performance. This will also include being involved in the activities of Loan Portfolio Management ("LPM") and Credit Transaction Management ("CTM")
  • Liaise with back office functions connected to, for example, wires, payments, settlements etc.
  • In coordination with the MD/Director/VP, prepare credit submissions and associated analyses, ensuring that they are completed in a timely manner, that loan documentation standards are adhered to and that submissions are accurate and provide all information relevant to the credit decisions
  • Engage peers in Group Risk Management ("GRM"), CTM and LPM in the application for credit and in subsequent administration and monitoring
  • Ensure timely updates on client, industry and market performance
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:

  • MBA or a Master's Degree with a focus in Business, Economics, Mathematics or quantitative fields
  • At least 3-4 years of Experience in Corporate Banking, Corporate Lending, Corporate Finance or other Credit Related role
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical and technical skills
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines, prioritize work and multi-task responsibilities while working for multiple people
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and the ability to source data/research
  • Ability to work through Loan Agreements and other legal documents
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills in both French and English
