Role/Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work in the Ratings & Process Oversight Group (RPO) enhancing ratings quality and promoting cross-sector methodology consistency across all types of Financial Institutions. In addition to managing more junior associate analysts, the candidate will support the activities of a team of senior Group Credit Officers (GCO) dedicated to the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) and will have the opportunity to interact with the Global Head of RPO.

FIG at Moody's covers over 3,500 issuers across the world spanning the entire rating spectrum. The position offers an excellent opportunity to develop the broadest possible credit perspective across financial institutions capital markets globally.

RPO through the GCO works with Moody's rating teams, including participating in rating committees and credit discussions, particularly for complex, unusual, or precedent-setting situations. It leads initiatives to improve analytical tools and processes, and maintain best practices, RPO also supports and generates research on analytical topics, and provides insights for credit strategy and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of more junior associate analysts on the RPO team.
  • Interacting with Ratings & Research (R&R) to drive standardization of the ratings process
  • Assist in the preparation and management of portfolio reviews by, among other things, gathering and analyzing data, preparing charts, updating or running financial models, sourcing other analytical information, and helping to prepare required documentation.
  • Develop working knowledge of Moody's methodologies to assist analysts in applying them to rating analyses.
  • Attend rating committees as a non-voting member.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key contacts from various departments in the firm (e.g., Default Research, Credit Strategy and Research, Ratings and Research, financial writers and editors).
  • Work with a team of analysts on various analytical, statistical and data projects. Utilize SQL, Excel, or MATLAB to query and manipulate large data sets to conduct data analysis.
  • Serve as a "go to" person for special ad hoc projects while concurrently maintaining high performance in core responsibilities.
  • Assist in conducting quantitative default and recovery research where appropriate; Assist in conducting credit research and analysis.
  • Learn how to use complex financial models, spreadsheets and analytical databases, as applicable to each rating group. Liaise with data sourcers.


Qualifications
Required Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • MBA, CFA or similar degree strongly preferred; absent that, several years of related work experience
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Documentation experience
  • Highly organized and efficient, with ability to multi-task and able to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills - able to communicate clearly and succinctly, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders and build strong relationships
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Ability to work with PowerPoint presentations, EXCEL spreadsheets, and data bases
  • Knowledge of Moody's rating methodologies beneficial
  • Relevant experience in credit analysis being a plus
