Overview of Role:
As a research analyst, you will be required to undertake original qualitative and quantitative research into funded and manager solutions across asset classes, strategies, regions and sectors according the business' needs. You will conduct searches for investment opportunities, create and maintain comprehensive Investment Due Diligence (IDD) reports for a range of funds.
You will be a member of the Manager Selection Investment Committee, presenting your research and providing a peer review for the work of others.
The team adopts a "non siloed" approach but we envisage that this role would be initially focused on analysis of long only traditional strategies primarily to support the existing Multi Manager and incoming Manager of Manager areas.

Main Duties and Overall Responsibilities:
- To produce ongoing detailed research of existing holdings and conduct research on additional or replacement investments. In some cases client-friendly versions of reports will also be required.
- Be the named analyst accountable for a number of investments.
- Co-ordinate any new or ongoing manager research (IDD) with the work of the operational due diligence team (ODD) to ensure ideas are usable taking into account operational and logistical considerations. Liaise with operations to ensure funds / managers are available for use across portfolios where directed.
- Update the team in a timely manger on any developments in the funds / managers/ strategies under your coverage.
- Upload ongoing contact notes and opinions to our central research database in a timely manner.
- Arrange and in cases lead face to face meetings with fund managers, with relevant preparation.
- Assist in the production of periodic fund of fund reviews including producing client-facing material for external governance oversight meetings and internal risk meetings.
- Aid in the construction and maintenance of approved lists of funds to be used by the portfolio management team and for onward distribution where more bespoke client agreements mandate.
- Provide peer review as a member of the Manager Selection Investment Committee.
- Collaborate across the Schroder group as appropriate.

Experience:
- Experience of Fund and / or Manager Research at an Investment House.
- Likely to have worked in Asset Management; Institutional Manager Research; Private Banking or Wealth Management.
- Suitable investment qualifications such as the CFA designation or equivalent.
Skills:
- Experience in evaluating and monitoring third party managers via both desk-based research and face-to-face interviews.
- Willingness to express overall opinions about funds and managers supported by analysis of their specific strengths and weaknesses.
- Existing knowledge of the fund/ manager universe.
- A demonstrable track record in the selection of high quality fund managers and analysis of the likely environment under which they tend to perform.
- Curiosity about the investment world and a desire to grow.
- Experience of and interest in fixed income managers (in addition to equity) is an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and proactively in identifying suitable manager solutions, whilst maintaining a strong team ethic.
- Excellent written and presentation skills, including use of Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Willingness to challenge colleagues' opinions in a constructive manner.
- High rate of productivity and
- Knowledge and practical experience of analytical tools such as Lipper IM/ EIKON; Morningstar; Style Analytics. Ability to master other tools which you may not have used before.
