We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Balance Sheet Management Valuation Control Manager.

Principal responsibilities
  • Manage Balance Sheet Management Valuation Control team to ensure the core Product Control functions are properly performed in accordance with internal requirements, current industry best practice and Accounting Standards.
  • Lead the Regional Hedging Unit to ensure hedge accounting controls in Asia Pacific are implemented in accordance with Accounting Standards and internal requirements.
  • Manage valuation, booking and system rollout for capital instruments issued by the bank.
  • Coordinate and lead discussions in Corporate Centre Valuation Committee and Regional Hedge Accounting Control Committee.
  • Represent Balance Sheet Management Product Control on Business Control Committee, Volcker Review Meeting and various working groups, including IBOR demise, hedging subject matter expert group for Group Accounting Policy.
  • Provide guidance to Asia Pacific Product Control and Balance Sheet Management on implementation of hedge accounting strategy, system booking and any accounting adjustment arising from new designation and termination of hedge relationship.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient controls and accounting for all Balance Sheet Management transactions, in accordance with local and Group requirements, and maintain a rigorous independent control structure that prevents financial and reputational loss to the Group.
  • Promote continuous improvement for all activities including increasing efficiency and controls through procedures or systems change process.
  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of Business Risk and Control Management or assurance, internal and external audit points.
  • Act as a contact point with key stakeholders including Operational Accounting, Asset Liability and Capital Management, IT, Operations, Front Office, Group Finance and Traded Risk.
  • Provide coaching to the team including onshore, offshore and near shore.


Qualifications
Requirements
  • University Degree.
  • Professional Qualifications, such as CPA, CFA, will be preferred.
  • Solid relevant experience.
  • Understanding of hedge accounting under IFRS9.
  • Proven managerial experience, with good people and development skills.
  • Knowledge of global markets systems.
  • Good knowledge of Treasury products, market risk, operations, controls and limits.
  • Familiarity with the accounting entries for financial products, including financial derivatives.
  • Knowledge of international accounting standards relevant to Treasury reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Word automated data retrieval from various databases.
  • Confident to deal with front office management and capable of working under pressure.
  • Excellent written English and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work with people across location and from different backgrounds.
