We are a small RIA firm managing around 85 million in assets under management. We specialize in stocks and bonds management with downside protection. We work with mutual funds within retirement plans. Located in Southeast, Michigan we have a contemporary feel with workplace flexibility. We believe in a business casual atmosphere outside of more formal client meetings. We want to be playful, but respectful of others.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The position is responsible for conducting investment research, performing portfolio management activities, working with compliance for policies and procedures, communicating effectively with prospects, clients and team members, has a commitment to the community, and functions well as a team player.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Conducts investment research:

Conducts primary and secondary asset research both technically and fundamentally necessary to construct and maintain client portfolios. 

Communicates policies, investment direction, fundamental and technical advice to team members and sales personnel to facilitate a company-wide understanding of strategies, trends, and goals.

Monitors trends in domestic and international economies. Evaluate fundamental data, global trade, currency, and monetary policies and assimilate relevant data in an effort to optimize investment decision-making.

2. Performs Portfolio Management activities:

Coordinates and prepare an investment plan for each client, communicate with team members in coordination with the financial plan

Document the investment plan including the desired approach, liquidity needs, security selection, etc., inform the Relationship Manager if client goals cannot be met, for whatever reason.

Manages client investment portfolios consistent with goals established for the account through the investment and financial plan.

Manages securities trading activities by determining the timing of trades at the most advantageous price considering the size of the order, market sector, and prevailing market conditions. Maintain good working relationships with brokers, vendors, and team members.

3. Works with Compliance:

Complies with established operating policies and procedures in order to maintain adequate controls and to support the firm adherence to outside regulatory requirements around trading and portfolio management.

Works with Compliance Officer to make sure firm policies are in place and followed in a timely manner.

Makes sure proper records are recorded.

Serves as a fiduciary for every client at all times.

5. Communicates effectively:

Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from other personnel, clients, etc., within given time frames and within established policy and maintain appropriate records and provides assigned reports.

Helps with quarterly statements and meeting reviews.

Writes quarterly portfolio updates for statements.

Curates articles for blog 2x a month.

6. Demonstrates a commitment to the community: 

Participates in various external community events.

Helps to create and maintain a positive fun firm environment.

Serves in a leadership capacity to various civic, charitable and related organizations in order to increase the firm's visibility and strengthen relationships with the communities we serve. 

Performs assigned tasks relating to internal firm events.

7. Functions well as a team player

Greets guests in a friendly and welcoming manner

Able to assist other team members when needed

Provide other support services as reasonably be requested by Management.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and CFA Certification.

Additional CFP Certification a plus.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 7 years of industry experience in the securities/investments marketplace or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Must demonstrate a comfort level in talking to and calling on current and prospective clients. Must have the ability to deal tactfully and efficiently with fellow team members and clients. Must be able to work at a pace that ensures that established deadlines are met. Must demonstrate proficiency in operating office equipment including personal computer, calculator and fax machine. Must possess strong oral communication skills (including excellent telephone etiquette), strong interpersonal skills (with sales/service orientation), strong math skills with a high degree of accuracy, and strong analytical skills.
