Technology Equity Research Analyst
A Boston-based Socially Responsible Investment manager with over $3 billion in assets is looking to hire an equity investment analyst to assist in the management of their core mid cap growth fund in the Technology sector.
The ideal candidate will have both the ability and willingness to participate and contribute to the development of a cohesive, dynamic team responsible for the implementation of a solid investment process. They will have responsibilities for helping identify key long- and intermediate-term investment trends critical for achieving competitive long-term investment returns across a broad spectrum of sectors, leveraging multiple internal and external inputs. They must be comfortable with focusing on a specific industry or company throughout an extensive due diligence period and then quickly rotating into another one.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the portfolio manager and analyst team in researching technology companies and sub-sectors including initiating contact and interacting with a wide array of information sources including sell-side research, corporate SEC filings, publicly available industry and product data as well as other sources of public data on companies and their businesses and the industries in which they operate
- Generate and propose investment recommendations (buy/sell equity securities) based upon a combination of fundamental qualitative and quantitative analysis consistent with the Firm’s investment philosophy and process
- Provide key input to determining strategic direction of investment decisions for any 12–18 month time frame as well as longer time frame considerations
- Provide input on and assistance with the preparation of communications materials and presentations for internal/external uses
- Be willing to help with ad hoc research projects as requested by investment team and take on additional roles required in a smaller firm setting.
- Update and maintain financial models (using company filings such as 10K, 10Q, Income Statements, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Databases, etc.)
Requirements
- Minimum 1-2 years investment industry experience as a fundamental equity research analyst preferably in the technology sector with knowledge of finance and accounting principles
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, CFA Charter holder and/or advanced degree a plus
- Proficient in building and maintaining spreadsheets and financial modeling using 10K, 10Q, Income Statements, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, databases, etc.
- A high degree of intellect, curiosity, drive for continued improvement and passion for investing
- Ability to distill complex subjects and concepts into well-articulated and clear summaries
- Demonstrated interest in technology/innovation/growth driven investing
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a focused team
- Interest in socially responsible investing with a willingness to work with a more limited universe due to Firmwide negative and positive screens
- Demonstrate good judgement and integrity in decision making
