Business Unit Overview:

BlackRock ' s EMEA Retail business employs 181 people with over $200bn assets under management. EMEA Retail is primarily a wholesale business providing cross-border solutions to intermediaries who serve the full spectrum of privately-owned wealth across Europe, the Middle East and Africa . Our clients are predominantly global and multi-national banks, wealth managers and insurers focused on delivering discretionary investment management and financial advisory services to private investors.

EMEA Retail's product proposition comprises a broad range of both actively managed and index pooled investment vehicles . The BlackRock Global Funds (BGF) range which is registered and distributed in over 22 countries across the EMEA region as our flagship offering, designed to meet the needs of the cross-border retail investment market. A UK-domiciled Authorized Unit Trust range (BFM) is also distributed in the UK to serve the needs of our domestic UK client base. In addition to its core mutual fund business, EMEA Retail aims to deliver bespoke, outcome-oriented investment portfolios to strategic partners across the region , often acting as an outsourced portfolio manager on behalf of our largest distributors

Job Purpose/Background:

The Swiss Retail team is responsible for developing the Retail business in Switzerland as well as supporting existing client relationships. Clients include retail and private banks, insurance companies, multinationals, independent financial advisors , hedge funds and distribution platforms. The ideal candidate is an experienced, credible and persuasive sales person with an inherent ability to partner with people from different cultures and build long term business relationships. An individual with unquestionable ethics and value, the ideal candidate possesses a thorough understanding of how a world class global Asset Management organization can grow its business and build close relationship at the highest level of our client firms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the sales coverage of wholesale clients in the German & Italian speaking part of Switzerland for all BlackRock products
  • Deve l op strong knowledge about the BlackRock product range and solutions
  • Extend and foster own network in Switzerland and particularly in the German & Italian speaking part of Switzerland
  • Contribution to the delivery of annual target of net new assets, generated from existing and new clients
  • Maintain and develop dialog with respective product development and marketing departments
  • Deliver product presentations to clients via phone, video conferences and office visits
  • Arrange client meetings and conference calls with Fund Managers or Product Specialists
  • Lead road shows, events & seminars in partnership with Marketing and Event Management team
  • Gather client information (client & decision makers mapping , key BLK contacts , etc . )
  • Continuous client support and communication over the phone and email
  • Ensure client receives first class, tailored service
  • Negotiate and agree financial terms


  • Systematic, structured and professional sales approach
  • Good existing contacts with Banks and IFAs and an excellent knowledge of the client landscape in the German & Italian speaking part of Switzerland - existing network is a strong plus
  • Solid know how about Funds business, products and financial markets
  • Demonstrate deep and broad business acumen across numerous disciplines - sales and business development, as well as extensive investments experience
  • Innovative oriented thinking person to position financial market instruments
  • Drives execution - quickly removes roadblocks; translates strategy into specific goals , tactics, action plans, and deliverables and effectively delegates to drive execution .


  • BA/BS required; emphasis on finance or economics preferred
  • CFA and/or CAIA would be of advantage but not preconditioned
  • Analytical skills necessary to analyze and interpret complex investments product information and determine appropriate response to meet the needs of clients and prospects
  • Good research and data management skills
  • Fluency in German and excellent English language skills a must
  • Italian language skills a plus
  • Professional level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent PC know-how: MS-Office - Word, Excel, Power Point
