- Credit and risk assessment of trade finance related exposures from a range of counterparties.
- Monitoring of trade finance exposures/assets and on-going maintenance of relationships with counterparties as part of the process.
- Assisting the Trade Finance Senior Portfolio Manager in the origination of trade and commodity finance transactions, both from primary and from secondary markets
- Performing counterparty and borrower's risk analysis (bank and corporate), as well as analysis on relevant country and industry sectors; reviewing of legal documentation, deal structures etc.
- Preparing the credit application for the transaction approval, recommending the transaction to the Trade Finance Senior Portfolio Manager
- Monitoring the trade finance portfolio including updating and maintaining credit files, monitoring of credit limits, covenants, collateral and reviewing any waiver and amendment requests, in conjunction with Operations.
- Ensuring credit exposure/risks are in line with internal policies and risk appetite
- Supporting the Portfolio Manager in managing client and counterparty (banks, funds, direct lenders) relationships
Experience & Qualifications
- Prior commercial credit analysis experience (min. 2-5 years), particularly in the commodities sector (commodity traders and commodity producers), emerging markets and banks providing trade finance
- Knowledge of trade finance transaction structures
- Awareness of the regulatory and compliance environment
- Good communication skills - ability to present well
- Minimum undergraduate degree from a recognised university
- Formal training/diplomas/CFA - credit and financial analysis
- Ability to prioritise and work under pressure
