Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the Associate Portfolio Manager is primarily responsible for the segregated fixed income recommendations, analytics, and trading for ATB Wealth. This position requires a detailed understanding of fixed income markets and products, industry trends, and relevant economic data.  The Associate Portfolio Manager is also required to provide research, trading, and fund administration duties as needed for the ATB Compass and ATBIS Pools mutual funds. The Associate Portfolio Manager is also expected to contribute periodic investment-related content intended for advisor and end-client use.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Security selection, analytics, monitoring, and trading for segregated fixed income portfolios
  • Fixed income analysis and recommendations to Financial Advisors and Investment Counselors as needed
  • Buy and sell order execution of fixed income and money market securities
  • Daily communication, in the form of a fixed income offer sheet
  • Maintenance of external relationships with bond dealers to ensure adequate liquidity and fair pricing for fixed income securities
  • Maintenance of relationships with internal business partners
  • Development and implementation of effective techniques and procedures to monitor and control risk of ATB Wealth’s fixed income holdings
  • Periodic, ongoing implementation of trading instructions for the Compass Portfolio Series and ATBIS Pools mutual funds
  • Contribution to monthly investment committee meetings
  • Coordinate with other internal experts to provide individualized investment solutions for advisor team
  • Coordinate with other internal experts to create timely investment content for advisors and end-clients

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of bond and money market securities
  • Broad knowledge of other financial markets and instruments including equities, foreign exchange, and structured products.
  • Experience with portfolio construction and analysis
  • Works well with minimal supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong proficiency with MS-Excel and a working knowledge of Visual Basic
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg desirable
  • Candidates with less experience will be considered for a Senior Analyst role

Designations/Prerequisites

  • 3-5 years of applicable experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or a related field
  • Completion of the Chartered Financial Analyst program desirable
