About this role

The Alternative Solutions Group ("ASG") is seeking a Vice President based in New York to support the investment process and ASG's portfolio management team. ASG has a flexible mandate to invest across the capital structure and into multiple asset classes across private markets globally. ASG's investment universe covers the full spectrum of traditional investments, including but not limited to private equity, credit, and real assets, as well as non-traditional assets such as structured finance and special situations, specialty lending and emerging asset classes. The candidate should have a passion for fundamentals focused investing, cash flow based valuation, and an appreciation for both absolute and relative value considerations in pricing risk. A multi-asset approach favors an awareness of relative value across both public and private markets and an understanding of idiosyncratic and market based drivers of risk/returns. ASG utilizes Aladdin's multi-factor risk framework to assess the economic risk of private market portfolios.

ASG currently manages $6+ billion in assets
(including capital commitments) and the business' ambitious growth targets will
present opportunities for a self-starter, who would be keen to lead initiatives
in portfolio management, business building and client engagement. The position
requires a combination of team spirit, intellectual curiosity / ability, and
strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships with both
internal and external stakeholders. The role will cover primarily investment
related functions with some business development and process improvement
projects, including, but not limited to, investment evaluation, risk
management, portfolio analysis, thematic research, strategic initiatives,
designing portfolio proposals for institutional investors, and marketing
support.

Skills & Qualifications:

• The ideal candidate will have relevant work
experience of 4+ years including direct investments (experience in alternatives
is additive but not required), investment research or investment banking or
another comparable role in asset management

• Passion for investing with a proactive
approach, seeking out opportunities (PA investments may be considered)

• Intellectual curiosity as well as strong
analytical, quantitative / modelling and critical reasoning skills

• Clear articulation of ideas (orally or
based on written memos and presentation material) to internal and external audiences

• Ability to work effectively at all levels
of an organization and build strong relationships with team members and
investment professionals across the firm

• Proven experience in organizing and
managing multiple priorities and deadlines

• Excellent academic record

Preferences but not
Requirements:

• Prior experience with one or more specific
asset classes

• Knowledge of the Aladdin environment, in
particular Portfolio Risk Tools and AnSer (for BLK internal candidates)

• MBA or CFA preferred but not required

• Experience with alternative investments preferred
