POSITION

The Portfolio Integrity Manager ("PIM") role is part of the Portfolio Integrity team within the Portfolio Services function. The PIM is a senior role with the opportunity to be a leader and trusted advisor within Portfolio Services and across the Investment Platform. The PIM primarily engages with the investment teams within their coverage in order to mitigate risk, identify optimization opportunities and leverage investors' time. In addition, the PIM focuses on strategic, firm-wide initiatives but is also tapped to assist with tactical time sensitive business challenges impacting client portfolios. The PIM plays a leadership role within Portfolio Services in the achievement of our strategic initiatives, specifically with respect to systems development and collaboration among groups across the firm. The PIM works alongside Platform Directors, Portfolio Management teams, Investment Directors and Information Technology to develop and carry out the firm-wide, evergreen objective of investment excellence for clients over the long term. The Portfolio Integrity team resides at the intersection of the Portfolio Services, Portfolio Management, Product Management and Client Service functions, contributing to the growth and scalability of a robust, dynamic, and global investment platform. The PIM engages with each of these functions, acting as a trusted advisor, to address operational risk, establish best practices, create efficiencies, improve scalability, drive integration and promote portfolio accuracy.

RESPONSIBILITIES Primary responsibilities:
  • Mitigate Operational Risk
    • Promote portfolio accuracy and transparency by working with IT to create enhanced monitoring, reporting and investment technology tools
    • Aid teams in identifying and resolving anomalies and dispersion in a scalable and timely manner
    • Assist with account structure design and integrity, and act as a point of escalation
    • Review errors and near misses impacting their portfolio teams' book of business to ensure reasonable and effective controls are in place


  • Establish Best Practices, Create Efficiencies, Improve Scalability & Drive Integration
    • Work among and across groups to improve existing processes and adopt best practices
    • Collaborate with investment teams and IT counterparts to create tools that promote portfolio optimization
    • Ensure critical information regarding change management is communicated to portfolio teams in a timely manner


  • Partner with Investment and Platform Directors
    • Assess product and client trends, challenges and opportunities
    • Evaluate new business opportunities, work through unique solutions and complex account structures; assess the impact to Portfolio Services and the firm
    • Assist Platform Directors with the fulfillment of their supervisory responsibilities with respect to operational risk within the portfolio teams that report to them


  • Partner with Portfolio Managers and Investment Teams
    • Engage regarding unique client solutions and the use of new/complex instruments
    • Act as a point of contact for investment teams to facilitate resolution of operational challenges
    • Assist in the onboarding of new investors by understanding their philosophy and process, investment instrument use and trading frequency to ensure the firm can support the investor's activity


  • Ad Hoc Investment Related Projects
    • Partner with various groups around the firm to develop and execute the department's strategic plan
    • Lead, design and implement cross-functional investment related initiatives whether the catalyst is internal demand or external requirements (market function or regulatory changes)


QUALIFICATIONS
This is a dynamic role that requires a global mindset, intellectual curiosity, familiarity with portfolio construction practices and advanced analytical skills including the ability to frame issues, identify important points and draw conclusions.

The successful candidate for this position is likely to have:

  • Strong communication skills, interpersonal flexibility and a pragmatic, problem-solving approach is also critical, as this role necessitates collaboration with a broad group of colleagues including portfolio managers, information technology professionals and senior managers across the firm.
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience, ideally in an investment, product or business management role working with investment professionals and line management
  • Deep understanding of investment and account lifecycle processes
  • Demonstrated ability to be a strategic business partner, including the ability to be a change agent, rally support for large-scale initiatives, and think creatively about new ways to amplify the success of our investment platform
  • Credibility to engage productively with senior investors and leaders, including ability to constructively challenge the status quo and solve problems
  • Strong knowledge of the global capital markets and experience working with clients and prospects on custom investment solutions
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to articulate and integrate numerous viewpoints; mobilize and influence across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to know your audience; understand and articulate at both the high level and more detailed level, as necessary
  • Ability to navigate stressful situations with poise; focused on being a calming presence, active listener and pragmatic problem solver
  • A record of continuous improvement and effecting positive change within the group and the firm
  • Attention to detail with an ability to quickly spot and diagnosis errors in work done by others
  • Superior organizational skills with a results orientation
  • Strong academic credentials; MBA and/or CFA (CAIA or equivalent) is preferred
