Overview:
The Regional, Community, and Foreign Institution (RCFI) Function is responsible for supervising and regulating state member banks, bank holding companies, and foreign banking organizations in the United States. The Risk and Analysis Department (RAD) in RCFI is responsible for assessing the risks inherent in the activities of the financial institutions in the portfolios, and conducting reviews of the relevant risk management practices as well as providing financial and risk analyses to support exams and ongoing monitoring. We are seeking an experienced Financial Analyst who has strong analytical and problem solving skills, along with strong communication abilities.

Job Responsibilities:
As a Financial Analyst, the candidate will be responsible for monitoring and assessing the financial performance of institutions in the RCFI portfolio. This includes:

  • Designing and creating data visualizations, utilizing internal and external databases, to monitor financial risks across the RCFI portfolios
  • Partnering with risk analysts and supervisory managers in RCFI and different levels of the organization to develop insightful analytical tools and reports
  • Developing subject matter expertise in bank financial analysis including but not limited to capital adequacy, earnings, and liquidity and interest rate risk
  • Collaborating with peers within the Bank and across the Federal Reserve System to promote synergies around best practices, methods, and tools in the scope of surveillance and exam support.
  • Working with colleagues across the Bank in the Markets, Discount Window, and Research groups to deliver important and highly sensitive messages to both supervised firms and other agencies involved in its oversight
  • Monitoring market developments (e.g., Puerto Rico financial crisis) and emerging trends by tracking relevant external sources (media, analyst reports, etc.)
  • Assisting in the identification of thematic and/or system-wide financial risk topics across firms and, as appropriate, develop topics for inclusion in function deliverables
  • Presenting supervisory observations and conclusions to management at the FRBNY, the Board of Governors, and the supervised institution at various organizational levels, including senior executives and committees


Qualifications:
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of prior of finance, analytical, or data visualization experience is required
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Strong knowledge and experience of visual design and visualization software (e.g. Tableau, Power-BI)
  • Concrete knowledge of relational database, SQL and other data querying mechanism and tools
  • Moderate experience with various data manipulation in Excel with basic programming skill (preferred)
  • Ability to assimilate new information and keep abreast of a rapidly evolving financial services landscape
  • Self-driven with ability to work independently, multi-task, and perform under pressure with the expectation of taking initiative and ownership of assignments, producing results under tight time constraints, and operating effectively given rapidly evolving priorities
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to have effective communication with various stakeholders
  • Education - Bachelor degree is required
  • Certification - CPA, CFA, or FRM is preferred
