The Opportunity:

Newton Investment Management North America LLC is the US business development and client service arm of Newton. The US business is a strategic focus of the firm. Newton has the ambition to grow the US business to a material part of the overall business (currently roughly 15% of the total firm assets).

The US business focusses on two core functions. 1) Portfolio Specialists have in depth knowledge of Newton investment strategies and markets and represent our investment team across clients and prospects. 2) Institutional Sales / Client Directors work with our institutional clients and prospects to understand their investment needs and provide solutions to meet their investment goals.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team which is a key focus of the firm. We are looking for an entry level business development analyst to support the US client facing team. This is a great opportunity to gain experience within the buy side client facing business, deepen existing knowledge of equity, fixed income and multi-asset investment strategies, build knowledge across institutional and intermediary channels and be part of a growing, dynamic and global team.

The primary responsibility for this role is to provide broad support to the client-facing team. This will include coordination and project management with various groups in our London headquarters, including but not limited to portfolio management, performance, presentations, compliance, and marketing. Organizational, Analytical and Relationship building skills will be important. Occasional trips to London may be required. The Analyst will work closely with two Associates who work alongside each of the two core business lines. The role is a support role and will include some administrative functions; however, the role will expose the Analyst to various elements of the client facing business and if successful, lead to an associate level position in one of the business lines.

Responsibilities:
  • Generateand review Management Information reports and business plans, which willrequire use of Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Workclosely with associates and client facing team and contribute ideas acrossbusiness strategy, client campaigns, and the use of technology.
  • Usesystems such as eVestment and Morningstar to run market analyses, attribution,and competitor analysis to help the wider group and sales teams deepen theirunderstanding of Newton strategies.
  • Draft,coordinate, review and ensure timely delivery of new business and clientpresentation materials via DotApprove for the Institutional, Intermediary andClient Relations teams, with support from the London-based presentation team.
  • Providedeliverables to our distribution partners and clients on a monthly, quarterly,and ad hoc basis including, presentation updates and other marketing materials.
  • Attainan in depth understanding of Newton's investment strategies. As the Analyst'sproduct / investment knowledge and presentation skills improve, greaterinteraction with our distribution partners and clients will be required.
  • Workclosely with compliance to ensure external materials are reviewed by UK, US andCanadian compliance colleagues and facilitate edits where necessary.Continuously update new business procedures to stay aligned with regulation.
  • Bea general point of contact for the institutional sales team, the relationshipmanagement team, and the intermediary sales team during travel. Assist withgeneral queries and requests from clients, consultants and internal groups.
  • Ensure Salesforce remains current and functionality is optimized. Participate in internal investment meetings and review meeting notes to help summarize key points for SalesForce.
  • Provide overall support to the team; this support includes handling inbound calls/requests, portfolio manager travel coordination, and overseeing of office deliverables.
  • Beproactive in streamlining processes throughout the office. Work with variousinternal groups and team on ad hoc requests and projects.
  • Monitorand coordinate standard Requests For Proposals (RFPs) and Requests ForInformation (RFIs) with Newton RFP/RFI teams.
  • Work with marketing team to ensure availability and distribution of marketing material. Assist with campaign communication.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Education: BA/BS
  • Experience: 0-2 years


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 0-2 years of experience within financial industry
  • Strong base knowledge of investment industry and markets
  • Interest or progress towards advance certifications or degrees such as CFA, CAIA
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products with expertise in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Heavy use of general technology to make team more efficient
