MSIM Alternative Investments is the direct and multi-manager private investing platform within Morgan Stanley's Investment Management Division (MSIM), one of the Firm's three principal business lines. MSIM Alternatives manages and advises approx. $100 billion in assets under management on behalf of its clients, which include corporate and public pension funds, sovereign wealth fund intermediaries, and high net worth investors worldwide. It has among the broadest range of alternative investment strategies in the industry, which includes three major asset classes: Solutions & Multi-Asset, Real Assets, and Private Credit & Equity. Thirteen independent investment teams with local presence in twenty-six cities around the world offer best-in-class capabilities leveraging Morgan Stanley's access, insights and expertise across the globe.
MSIM Alternatives Specialist team is a global team focused on coordinating and driving the following key activities across the MSIM Alternatives platform: investor coverage, capital-raising, marketing, new product development and market intelligence.
Responsibilities:
The MSIM Alternatives distribution team seeks an independent, self-motivated individual for the Internal Sales Desk to focus on MSIM Alternatives business development and distribution efforts across Morgan Stanley Wealth Management.
- Partner and support the Alternatives Investment Distribution Specialists to drive sales growth for MSIM alternative investment products within the MS Wealth Management channel
- - Build a deep and intimate knowledge of the various investment strategies across the MSIM Alternatives platform that include direct private equity, private credit, real assets, hedge fund and private equity fund-of-funds, and managed futures
- Establish a business plan to identify and meet with relevant Morgan Stanley Financial Advisors and relevant contacts within the assigned territory(s)
- Provide prompt, accurate responses to financial advisor and client inquiries
- Leverage relationships throughout the Wealth Management business to build awareness and educate Financial Advisors on the MSIM Alternatives platform
- Work alongside Financial Advisors to perform demand assessments and determine investor appetite for new products
- Plan, support and actively participate in specialized events (workshops, conferences, seminars, etc) for MSIM
- Intelligently allocate time and resources to all businesses within MSIM Alternatives
- Profile MS financial advisors to expand the network of MSIM alternative investment users
- Managing and utilizing CRM database to track Financial Advisor/client interactions
Qualifications:
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering or related field is preferred, but not required
- 3-5 years of experience preferably in an investment management or wealth management/financial advisory setting
-Prior investment sales experience is required
- Alternative Investments experience a plus
- Strong written, verbal, quantitative and interpersonal presentation skills
- Understanding of the financial advisory business
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently and effectively
- Need to be enthusiastic, self-motivated and a team player
- Ability to handle multiple assignments at once and meet associated deadlines
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- CAIA, CFA and other designations preferred, but not required
- License requirements: Series 7 and 63
