The Role

This is a very exciting opportunity to start up, manage and aggressively grow our new offshore USD Liquidity Fund. The role will be located in our Chicago office reporting to The Global Head of Liquidity who is based in London. The new USD Fund will be part of our highly successful franchise of liquidity products, and will be sold throughout Europe. You will be responsible for the investment performance, against both benchmark and peers and be required to manage for the portfolio to the new MMF regulations. Therefore knowledge of these regulations are key. You will also be expected to contribute to investment ideas amongst the global liquidity team and come up with new ideas to enhance our products, processes, performance and philosophy. There may be times when you will be needed to accompany our sales team on client pitches.

The Team

Global Liquidity sits within the Credit business at Aviva Investors and as such will provide the fund manager will access to a large team of credit analysts located across the world. Our AUM in North America is rapidly expanding and this is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to make the next career move. There are currently six members in the investment team for Liquidity, located in Paris and London. This role will expand our team into the US. We also have five dedicated sales people whom we work with very closely and we credit this collaboration for much of our successes.

Responsibilities

As such we are looking for someone with 3-7 years experience managing a similar (rated) Money Market Fund, someone who is very able to work independently and come up with new ideas but also someone who can be part of a global team as the management of the fund will adopt our global investment and credit process. 

The successful candidate will have expert knowledge on the money markets, credit and liquidity risk, investment risk and macro economics and make investment decisions always with the client(s) in mind. Credit risk is key and our philosophy is to make investment decisions with the client in mind. This person will also need to have a thorough understanding of the new European Money Market Fund regulations as the fund will be adopting the new regulations. The fund will be rated by two rating agencies, so the role will require maintaining these ratings and managing the fund inline with the new regulations. As we are members of IMMFA, the role will also need to participate in these meetings to gain industry insight.

The role will work closely with both the other fund managers in Liquidity but also the dedicated sales team based in Europe, to drive the AUM expansion of the fund and achieve top quartile performance to provide a commercial product for external investment.

The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the wider business to drive innovation, growth, collaboration and profitability.

Requirements

  • Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent and qualified IMC/CFA
  • Previous experience of managing money market funds and knowledge of y rated MMFs would be advantageous.
  • Experience managing portfolios with Floating Rate Notes and a very good knowledge of credit risk and macro economics
  • The ability to demonstrate a proven track record in investment performance
  • Have a proactive approach and show innovation by contributing to new investment ideas
  • Knowledge of European Money Market fund Regulations
  • Well versed in IT technical platforms and experience of Aladdin is desirable
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure with a team collaborative approach
