Investment Analyst, Public Equity
TMRS is a statewide public retirement system that provides retirement, disability, and death benefits for employees of participating Texas municipalities. Our organization currently has approximately $28 billion in assets that are invested for the long-term benefit of our members.
Researches, monitors and validates existing portfolios for investment team, strategy, process, performance, performance attribution, and compliance guidelines; evaluates markets and asset mix; and conducts ongoing manager/strategy due diligence including appropriate and required documentation; coordinates with operations, compliance, financial accounting, and consultants to ensure asset class is meeting objectives, policy and compliance guidelines while adopting best practices.
Provides analysis and evaluates performance of current and prospective investment asset managers and/or investment sub-asset classes; evaluates risk and return; may participate in negotiation of partnership/investment agreements with new managers; and maintains communications with managers and external stakeholders regarding investment firm, strategy, investment process, and performance.
Analyzes and monitors processes to ensure compliance and consistency with industry best practices; researches and identifies testing methods to monitor compliance with investment policy and investment agreements in conjunction with the compliance team; monitors compliance team reviews and test modifications; recommends compliance strategies; and maintains communications with managers and external stakeholders to identify and resolve compliance testing logic, calculation, or issues in conjunction with the compliance team; and ensures appropriate action is taken to address any issues.
Develops detailed reports or presentations to identify trends, potential issues, review performance, and to illustrate compliance with guidelines; reviews market conditions to identify opportunities and assist in strategy development; researches and evaluates current and potentially evolving economic and investing environment including potential new assets and its impact on the asset class portfolio and its objectives; and responds to ad hoc project project requests of investment team. May conduct presentations to the Board of Trustees, Staff groups or other stakeholders.Communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with executives, supervisor, coworkers, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
