The Credit team within MRT research both liquid and illiquid strategies, including Absolute Return Bonds, Multi-Asset Credit, Emerging Market Debt, Direct Lending, Distressed Debt and various other sub-sectors.

The role is to be a key part of this Credit team, taking responsibility for the assigned strategies, researching new managers, monitoring existing rated managers and delivering bespoke client projects.

Role Description
  • Responsible for (or assisting with depending on prior experience) the Preferred List process - screening the relevant manager universe, meeting and selecting the best available managers, and preparing the materials for approval by the firm's Investment Strategy Committee (ISC).
  • Articulating the decisions made internally, in particular to the Investment Consulting team, as well as to clients and prospects so that the research is then used by the firm's clients.
  • Work on bespoke client requests for manager searchers or reviews.

Examples of Team's Work
  • The Distressed Debt Preferred List was approved by the ISC in December 2018, with 4 Preferred Managers selected. The team screened the universe of 53 managers for the characteristics they felt were most relevant, had meetings with 25 managers in London and the US before recommending one corporate event driven manager, and three multi-strategy managers
  • A large UK wealth manager recently instructed Redington to design and select a manager for the launch of a daily-dealing alternative credit fund, a first for retail investors in the UK. Using the team's existing knowledge of the space, they got down to a shortlist of 2-3 potential managers before ultimately recommending one to the firm's investment committee.
