General Description

 

This role is responsible for supporting and evolving referenced proprietary investment strategies, including Liability Driven Investing (LDI) and Fixed Income exposure management offerings. The role will assist with modeling pension liabilities, driving thoughts around LDI management, assisting with building and maintaining fixed income models. 

 

 

 

This position will play an important role on the Overlay Solutions team including externally interacting with clients, consultants, and prospects. Specifically, the role works with the Overlay Solutions team to model and manage fixed income exposure benchmarked to a custom index (a proxy for their liabilities) using physical securities such as nominal Treasuries, STRIPS, TIPS, and investment grade bonds as well as synthetic fixed income securities including Treasury futures, interest rate swaps and credit default swaps. 

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Work independently and in teams to develop recommendations for evolutions to referenced investment strategies.
  • Produce strategy specific content including commentary, papers, client reviews, and prospect analyses in support of referenced investment strategies.
  • Stay current on legal and regulatory issues surrounding private and public defined benefit pensions.
  • Participate in client reviews and general sales meetings related to referenced investment strategies
  • Participate in Investment committee meetings and lead discussions of referenced investment strategies.
  • Mentor junior team members to develop skills and advance knowledge.
  • Interact with Portfolio Management/Trading to confirm referenced investment strategies are being executed efficiently and in line with expectations.
  • Take a consultative role with consultants and plan sponsors, using in depth modeling or data analysis expertise. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Job Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree, with an advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or related field preferred
  • Actuarial Certification and CFA designation strongly preferred
  • 7+ years of related experience, with 5+ years working with defined benefit pension plans performing asset/liability analysis
  • In depth understanding of fixed income markets, derivatives, and related securities
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to develop and maintain quantitative models
  • Strong communication skills, including writing, editing, and the ability to present complex material to clients, investment advisors, consultants, and at industry conferences
