Assistant Fixed Income Portfolio Manager

Location:          Richmond, VA

Department:     Davenport Asset Management

OVERVIEW:

This full time position is designed to give the employee broad exposure to all aspects of Davenport Asset Management by playing an integral role in the fixed income management effort. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Account monitoring and maintenance
• Strategy formulation and execution
• Fixed income market monitoring and trading
• Performance monitoring
• Independent research
• Internal communication

In addition to these varied areas, the employee will interact with equity portfolio managers in the administration of their accounts by performing the responsibilities listed below:

• Initial investment of funds
• Portfolio modeling and risk assessment
• Maintenance trading to accommodate contributions and distributions
• Monitor account model strategies’ performance
• Interaction with portfolio managers and sales force

QUALIFICATIONS:

• College degree
• 3 to 5 years of fixed income experience
• Experience with taxable assets
• Series 7 & 66 registered or must obtain registration within six months of hire date
• Extremely well-organized, detail-oriented and accurate; must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines
• Self-motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel; Bloomberg experience a plus
• Ability to learn and master computer applications that house customer data
• Ability to understand and adhere to industry rules and regulations
• Professional demeanor
• Ability to work beyond the standard work day when needed in order to meet the demands of the position
