The Role: Director, Financial Institutions Ratings Greater China

The Location: Hong Kong

The Impact: You will provide key stakeholders with our value-added "credit story" on banks, NBFIs, and the financial sector as a whole through clear opinions and strong analysis.

You will develop expertise in these fast-changing markets by covering a portfolio of banks and NBFIs. You will work with a group of very talented and experienced analysts from highly diversified backgrounds, including ex-regulators from three different jurisdictions. It is also a strong opportunity to develop your expertise in FI credit analysis in mainland China, Hong Kong, and the other markets that the team covers.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct analysis on complex financial institutions in Greater China, make recommendations and present to rating committees
  • Be a subject-matter expert to provide analytical input to credits covered by other analysts
  • Act as a senior member of rating committees and be responsible for convening and conducting rating committee deliberations in area of expertise
  • Effectively communicate to clients S&P Global Ratings' methodology and procedures
  • Be a senior representative in meeting with issuers and investors on analytical matters and assist in resolving clients' analytical needs
  • Contribute to S&P Global Rating's global and regional analytical forums, and publish related commentaries

Skills & Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree. Advanced degree, or CFA charter is a plus
  • Minimum twelve years of experience in an analytical position in financial institutions
  • A good understanding of financial markets, business environments and relevant regulations - in particular, on the banking or non-bank financial sector (finance companies, leasing companies, trust companies and other NBFI) in China
  • Strong communications skills in Chinese, including Putonghua and/or Korean
  • A demonstrated ability to give effective presentations to senior executives
  • Strong financial statement analysis skills and accounting knowledge
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A highly motivated team player who can work autonomously in a global, multi-cultural and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lead rigorous analytical work and lead the publication of timely commentaries
