The Role Responsibilities

Balance Sheet Management
• Identify various types of risks in the bank's balance sheet.
• Develop opportunities and strategies to add value and protect earnings taking into account interest rate outlooks.
• Understand the extent to which the balance sheet position impacts on the financial performance of the Bank in various economic and interest rate scenarios.

Laws and regulations
• Have and maintain good understanding of applicable laws and regulations pertaining to liquidity, capital, recovery and resolution planning and ensure appropriate controls to remain compliant with them.

Delivering the Group capital and liquidity agenda
• Have and maintain good understanding of structural liquidity and capital policies and other control requirements.

Advisory
• Provide recommendations on optimal balance sheet shape (deposit and capital mix, funding and asset profile, currency mix, returns, dividends).

Control
• Ensure adherence to structural liquidity and capital limits, authority frameworks and related minimum control standards and mitigants to ensure risk exposures material to the country remain within risk tolerance and risk appetite.
• Identifying pressure points and potential emerging challenges related to structural liquidity and capital limits in country balance sheets.
• Seek appropriate assurance that structural liquidity and capital policies and other control requirements are effectively implemented and monitor ongoing policy compliance.
• Ensure robust process controls are in place in line with the operational risk framework

Balance Sheet, Liquidity & Capital Management
Prepare reports and findings, including financial information to assist Ho BS&PM in ALCO's decision making and maintain oversight on production of ALCO pack.
• Monitor the strategic balance sheet measures to ensure adherence to approved limits.
• Assist where required in working groups appointed by ALCO to address strategic issues that impact Balance Sheet, Liquidity and Capital.
• Assist where required with the annual ICAAP and other stress test exercise including SCB UAE related stress tests working jointly with Group Treasury.
• Assist where required with the SCB UAE balance sheet optimisation & capital agenda jointly with Group Treasury.
• Be in charge of the FTP framework and policy application

Projects & Process Improvement Initiatives
• Assist where required SCB UAE Governance framework in conjunction with Group Treasury to establish effective oversight and control over financial performance, capital and liquidity management
• Appropriate MIS reporting for SCB UAE to support the Governance framework
• Enhance processes and procedures and mitigate operational risk within liquidity and capital management and reporting processes.

Performance Management
• Provide appropriate and reliable MIS for the development of SCB marketing strategies & business plans and monitor performance of the Segments against financial budgets / FCs.
• Analysis at various levels to improve decision making:
o economic / business sector,
o small / medium / large customers, and respective returns / top value clients
o credit / non-credit products).
o NIM / Volume analysis
o Cost analysis
o Share of Market
o What If analysis
• Address underlying profitability & risk/reward aspects, e.g. revenue streams/ income leakages/ reduction of expenses etc. through appropriate strategies such as tariff revision, periodic interest rate reviews, cost allocation rules, risk and capital charge, Basel etc.
• Ensure that the MIS delivered is reflective of existing business KPI's.
• Cover various lenses of performance in correlation to global markets, competition behaviour and performance.

Our Ideal Candidate

• 10-15 years' experience covering all key disciplines of banking and finance, including BS management (Assets Liabilities Management), MIS engineering, various segments banking, strategic planning, budgeting, research, and operations.
• The job-holder is familiar with complex business problems, conditions and constraints and is able to resolve issues at both macro and micro levels.
• The Job holder understands market dynamics / conditions across the UAE / region and adopts a multi-disciplinary approach within the bank, while recommending the course of action for enhancing the profitability and service delivery.
• The job-holder has knowledge of structural Liquidity management, capital, projects and experience supporting initiatives undertaken for the Balance sheet management.
• The job holder has knowledge of analysis techniques, evaluations, and recommends the course of action to be taken on strategic issues and key business drivers such as performance levels, processes & procedures etc.
• Highly developed analytical and strategic thinking skills with organizational and leadership abilities and creativity.
• Basic knowledge of information technology. Advanced knowledge of Excel and Power point.
• MBA / ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CMA / CFA or equivalent, preferably with emphasis on Finance.
