Research Analyst - Real Assets - London

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Analyst to join Aviva Investors' Real Asset team.

The Role

This is a permanent role based in our head office in the City of London. You will work closely with the Fund Managers and influence investment decisions. The role will have a private debt focus but the successful candidate will play an integral part in ensuring research outputs enhance Aviva Investors' reputation globally as a professional fund manager and as a leader in real asset analytics. You will report directly to the Director of Research - Real Assets, working closely with the wider team and in collaboration with head of quantitative research to help develop a strong quantitative research platform across real assets.

The Team

The Research Team aims to provide insight that enables the business to make better investment decisions. The team is integrally involved in the investment process and plays an important role in strategic allocation decisions. We work closely with investment strategists and economist to build a clear understanding of the macro economic environment to establish a top-down view of market prospects across the universe of real assets.

Responsibilities
  • Responsibility for building quantitative tools to assess relative market values and opportunities in real assets.
  • Working with head of quantitative research, builds a robust data and analytics platform to support research across real assets
  • Develop and provides inputs into insightful market commentaries, communicating research across the business to influence fund and business strategies.
  • Support investment decision making through building a view on market trends of most significance.
  • Providing investment recommendations based on robust qualitative and quantitative assessment, including in depth research on new market opportunities.
  • Contributing to our thought leadership agenda to ensure our understanding of key themes is cutting edge and helping to raise our profile externally.
  • Build the profile of Aviva Investors Real Assets through presenting at conferences, taking part in industry events and providing media commentary.

Requirements

Essential:
  • Either a relevant degree (economics, finance or related discipline) or able to demonstrate a suitable depth of intellectual rigour and maturity.
  • Excellent quantitative skills and advanced data manipulation capabilities. Appetite for a data intensive role.
  • A deep understanding of real assets, particularly private debt and infrastructure.
  • Proficient in Bloomberg and / or Aladdin
  • Good understanding of capital markets.
  • Proven analytical insight and a strong commitment to research.
  • Great all-round communicator who can deploy the most appropriate tone and method to best suit the recipient. Excellent presentation skills.

Highly Desirable:
  • IMC or equivalent; or recognized historical knowledge, experience and/or qualification.
  • CFA, CAIA, CPA or equivalent.
