As an Associate Analyst based in Mexico City, the key function will be to provide lead analysts in the Ratings and Research (R&R) function with holistic credit analysis of issuers - for both ratings and research.
The AA role supports lead analysts in interactions with external markets, including issuers and investors. Operating as the single point of contact for multiple lead analysts within the R&R function, the AA will liaise with multiple peers in varying locations (mostly in Latin America).

The AA role provides an opportunity for the candidate to make a significant contribution towards the success of the RRS and R&R functions by providing a range of analytical support that contributes to overall credit analysis outcomes.

The AA role will focus primarily on the Corporate Finance Group as primary Line of Business (LOB), and will support vary portfolios and methodologies as part of career progression. There is also the potential for cross-training in other LOBs. The AA role provides a unique opportunity to develop strong analytical and professional skills that are valuable to any future career in the financial services industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides analytical and research support on a portfolio of credits under the principal direction of lead analysts in the Ratings & Research function.
  • Works with a team of analysts on various analytical projects including preparing financial spreadsheets and undertaking financial modeling, which leads to first drafts of analytical summaries of quantitative and qualitative information.
  • Independently prepares sections of rating recommendations and identify credit issues for discussion with analyst.
  • Prepare presentations for investor meetings under the direction of lead analysts.
  • Assists analyst in preparation for portfolio reviews by compiling and maintaining peer comparisons, industry statistics and bond prices and spreads relevant to the portfolio.
  • Supports lead analysts in advanced and bespoke analytical tasks, examples include: Analysis of debt documentation; prepare rating committee memo; drafting of issuer and sector research; preparation of materials for issuer meetings and investor briefings.
  • Develops and maintain an understanding of industry trends and issues.


Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree required.
  • Sound accounting background (e.g., coursework and / or relevant work experience in accounting).
  • 2+ years of relevant work in finance-related analytical experience. Proven analytical skills and credit experience e.g. at a bank, corporate or investor (in related field) preferred.
  • Keen attention to detail; highly organized, proactive and efficient.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint OR Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt in a changing environment; ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize, to work collaboratively within a team and to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Advanced English and Spanish level- both spoken and written.


Preferred
  • Preferred majors include Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline.
  • Previous experience working in the Oil & Gas sector in Latam.
  • Graduate/second-level degree (e.g., MBA, Master's) preferred. Progress towards completion of CFA. Level II or other certificate in accounting finance.
  • Portuguese knowledge desirable.
