Our merchant banking businesses include beef processing, oil and gas exploration and development, fixed wireless broadband services in Italy, manufacturing companies, and a gold and silver mining project. We often have changes in our portfolio of investments which require the finance team to be flexible and responsive.

Position:
The primary responsibility of the Reporting Analyst is to prepare monthly and quarterly reports used by executive management to manage the various assets held, using PeopleSoft, Hyperion, Smartview, and various other reporting tools. The position requires strong quantitative and analytical abilities and established written and interpersonal skills. Additionally, candidates should be strategic thinkers with solid business judgment and a strong accounting / financial background inclusive of financial modeling. Successful candidates will also possess a superior academic track record with demonstrated quantitative and mathematical skills.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the receipt, review, and distribution of monthly and quarterly operating reports and board updates.
  • Prepare the bi-monthly and quarterly projections, return on tangible deployable assets, and other analysis.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting and review process.
  • Assist portfolio companies in determining appropriate reporting metrics and requirements, creating reporting templates, and implementing reporting requirements.
  • Assist in oversight of our Telluride properties (evaluate incentives, track weekly results, recommend operational adjustments to improve profitability, evaluate capex requests, evaluate property purchases, build business plans for possible acquisitions, create the annual budget and monthly operating results, etc.).
  • Manage the rollout of Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) to new operating companies as the subject matter expert.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining Hyperion reports for our NYC and SLC Accounting users.
  • Responsible for adding and maintaining complex VBA scripts to accounting reports to eliminate manual work.
  • Follow and report on industry news, research, and economic activity considered relevant to portfolio companies.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Required Background/ Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or CFA preferred
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance.
  • Advanced Excel, VBA, and Hyperion / SmartView skills and experience is highly desirable and will be given higher consideration.
  • Solid knowledge of back-office functions within the systems and ability to adapt quickly
  • Ability to thrive with ambiguous requests / projects.
  • Sarbanes Oxley knowledge and experience beneficial.
  • Project management skills are a plus.
  • Polished professional appearance and demeanor; diplomatic and dependable.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills and an ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Punctual and reliable attendance record (references will be checked).
  • Articulate with excellent written and oral communication skill.
  • Ability to delivery engaging informative and well-organized presentations.
  • Computer literate with solid knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
  • Proactive work ethic with sound judgment skills and an ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, acute attention to detail.
  • Exceptional level of integrity and confidentiality; ability to maintain appropriate privacy and discretion.
  • Ability to learn quickly and change direction on short notice. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a high-performance team. Flexibility and ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and constant interruptions.
