Role Description
The VC associate will work directly with the president to provide support in all aspects of overseeing the direct private investments and assist on new investments. The ideal candidate is confident, positive, detail-oriented and capable of easily interacting with portfolio company management and sophisticated investors. This role is dependent upon strong analytical and quantitative skills.
This is a permanent position with part-time hours. The majority of the work can be done remotely with one weekly face-to-face meeting in our San Francisco financial district office. The ebb and flow of work fluctuates with deal activity.
Primary Responsibilities
- Monitor portfolio companies (review company updates/financials/investor decks/board materials on a quarterly basis, analyze company operating performance, conduct conference calls with senior management as developments occur)
- Lead annual reporting and valuation process, resulting in annual reports and individual investment summaries to our clients
- Calculate and analyze investment performance metrics (IRR, realization multiples)
- Assist on corporate actions (consents, waivers, shareholder approvals)
- Maintain current files on portfolio companies (deal-related documentation, investment history schedules)
Additional Opportunities
- Assist in evaluating new investment opportunities, including due diligence, deal process, investment memos, negotiation of terms and closing process
- Increased responsibility with current investments
- Involvement with new projects (e.g. Impact investments for family offices, Blockchain applications in financial services)
Required Skills and Experience
- MBA, CFA, analyst program, Masters in finance/economics are all a plus
- Two years of investment related experience (VC/PE, investment banking, private equity)
- Ability to understand business and financial concepts, and carry out financial analysis
- Experience with financial modeling and investment valuation techniques
- Familiarity with venture agreements
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple ongoing projects
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel and Word)
