The Team: The US Leveraged Finance aims to strengthen the relevance of S&P ratings in investment decisions in the leveraged finance space. The team aims to be the leading voice on leveraged credit.
The team focuses on issues around ratings and recovery for US speculative grade transactions. The team will also look to work across departments and divisions to show SPGI capabilities and support CLO initiatives
The Impact: As part of the US Leveraged Finance leadership team, you will play an active part in raising the profile of the leveraged finance of US Corporate Ratings. You will among other things drive the research and outreach in this space.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide "portfolio-like" coverage and commentary of rating issues and trends in leveraged credit space (all US speculative grade) in US Corporate practice
  • Identify risks in high yield bond and leveraged loans markets and look at ways to incorporate emergent risks in our commentary and analytics
  • Work closely with sector analysts and other Leveraged Finance team members to author leveraged finance thought leadership on topical credit themes. Coordinate efforts with SF team, A&R and Fixed income research groups
  • Develop ideas for research and commentary by reviewing large data sets to identify trends and patterns
  • Work with AM and Sector Lead Recovery to develop pipeline of research
  • Participate in high profile new issuer meetings (spec grade) and identify new issuance themes and trends
  • Liaise between US Corporate and Structured Finance team on broader leveraged finance topics
  • Keep open dialogue with key leveraged market participants (with institutional investors, rating advisors, syndicated lending desks, CLOs, media and other constituencies)
  • Collaborate across S&P Global (LCD, MI, GFIR) relating to S&P research, insights and methodology
  • Represent S&P Global Ratings in conferences, council meetings, industry
  • Provide expertise for emerging initiatives like covenant analytics and/or loan document insights
  • Get trained in recovery analysis (reviewing credit agreements, apply analytical methodology and framework to determine recovery ratings as well as publish recovery research reports for high profile credits)
What We're Looking For:
  • Deep experience in the leveraged finance sector with a solid emphasis in research and marketplace outreach
  • Strong client and market knowledge and ability to contribute to the continued development of the S&P Global Ratings franchise
  • Have demonstrated strong communication skills that will be necessary to build-on and manage relationships with key local clients and influencers, and develop new relationships as part of market outreach activities
  • Ability to work with large data sets that will form the basis of analytics and reports
  • Good knowledge of S&P ratings analytical methodologies
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to stay organized, meet deadlines, and multitask
  • Strong team player - the ability to think locally and work globally in a collaborative and multicultural work environment is critical
  • Ability to think independently and critically, and have an eye for innovation opportunities
  • Keen ability to coach and mentor others in a complex fasting moving environment
Basic Qualifications: Graduate degree in Business, Finance, Economics or related field, and/or CFA. 10+ years of experience in the financial services industry with a solid analytical background.
