Job Details

The Public Employees Benefits Agency (PEBA) of the Ministry of Finance administers twenty-six pension plans and benefit programs with over $12B in pension and benefit assets. Overall, PEBA represents approximately 95,000 pension plan and benefit plan members, and operates within a $30M administrative budget.

The Public Employees Benefits Agency (PEBA) is seeking an Investment Analyst who is an experienced individual to research, develop and implement policies, protocols and standards to support the investment platforms administered by PEBA.

This position will be part of a team of analysts reporting to the Assistant Director of Investment Management within the Investment Services unit.  As a senior member of the Investment Services unit the successful candidate will be responsible for researching and developing investment policy to support industry best practices for both defined benefit and defined contribution plans; preparing and presenting reports to decision makers regarding program implementation and making recommendations for plan modification to accommodate emerging needs; overseeing the daily valuation and rebalancing of nineteen separate investment funds and providing advanced analytics as needed within that process.  This position will communicate with a diverse audience which includes members of the financial industry as well as members of the general public.

Candidates will need to work outside of normal hours of business as required by financial markets and market events; sometimes under tight deadlines.

Typically, the successful candidate for this position requires knowledge that would be the equivalent of a master’s degree. This knowledge is normally obtained through a bachelor’s degree in administration, economics or commerce; completion of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or an equivalent (several years) of investment related experience; and extensive pension plan experience.
