This position will be covering the review and analysis of the final revisions to the Basel III capital requirements under both US and PRA rules. Specifically, the role will be critical to the analysis and interpretation of the wide-reaching Basel III reforms. You will be tasked with assisting the firms advocacy efforts around any related draft legislation issued by the firm's regulators.

The function ensures timely notification and management of new developments in policy regulation which impact the calculation of RWAs, leverage ratio, and capital resources as well as any related regulatory reporting impacts. The successful candidate will also support business activity throughout the Americas outside the US, including Latin America and Canada. As part of the GRP team, the successful candidate will also form part of certain global subject matter expert ('SME') teams, comprising members of GRP from different countries, which provide expert technical regulatory support

Core responsibilities

  • Track new policy developments and formulate the Group's regulatory policies accordingly, providing detailed practical guidance, distributed to a wide range of stakeholders;
  • Produce and review regulatory opinions on complex transactions and new products to ensure compliance with Group regulatory policies;
  • Provide technical support and guidance to functions, businesses, and legal entities;
  • Provide technical support on the implementation of new regulatory requirements;
  • Facilitate the Group's response to future regulatory developments, and influence the external development of regulatory policy by writing public responses to new standards, proposed rules, and discussion papers

Qualifications and required background

  • Strong working knowledge of the prudential rules related to the calculation of regulatory capital, RWA - both banking and trading book, leverage ratio, and capital resources (including Basel rules, US rules, and optimally EU regulatory rules related to each of these areas);
  • Strong Academic background with a minimum of a bachelors degree in finance, accounting or a related subject
  • 8+ years experience in financial services / banking industry
  • Thorough and up to date understanding of Basel III
  • Specific knowledge of capital adequacy, RWA, capital buffers, loss-absorbing capacity
  • Extensive financial sector knowledge (including banking book and traded products)
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining relationships across multiple different areas of the business and at all levels
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements where necessary
  • Relvent professional qualifications, CFA, CPA or equivalent are a plus
