Job Details
Opus Investment Management, Inc. is looking for a portfolio manager to join our team of investment professionals. This role will be responsible for managing investment grade fixed income portfolios for insurance clients, pension funds, corporate entities and other institutional clients. In this role, the right candidate will assist with strategy development that complies with client objectives and Opus investment philosophy. The portfolio manager position is a client-facing position that is key to Opus’ client service approach. Candidates should have strong written and verbal skills to communicate with clients during presentations, client calls, and day-to-day activities. Additionally, communication skills will be utilized in client packages and the creation of marketing materials to support the growth of the firm’s account base.
This is a Full-time, Exempt role.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Manage several portfolios of investment grade fixed income securities subject to client objectives, constraints, and Opus investment philosophy
- Engage with research analysts to arrive at buy/sell/hold decisions
- Participate in setting of fixed income investment strategy for Opus portfolios
- Interact with clients during presentations, conference calls, and regular communications
- Complete ad-hoc reports analyzing holdings, risk, cash flows, and investment opportunities across account base
- Support Opus marketing initiatives through prospect presentations, conference attendance, and written thought pieces
Position Requirements:
2-7 years related experience and Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- Progress towards CFA designation or MBA preferred
- Strong track record of managing fixed income portfolios
- Individuals with insurance asset management or insurance business experience preferred
- Experience trading fixed income securities is ideal
- Comfort communicating complex topics simply to clients in formal situations
- Familiarity with business development practices to assist in Opus growth efforts
- Proficiency in Bloomberg and Microsoft Office products required, FactSet knowledge a plus
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Attention to details and ability to multitask required
- Ability to travel 25% of schedule
- Highly motivated individual who can work in a team environment
